Hi, I'm Lisa, Shandy and Kerry's friend, I was just looking on the site, as Kerry told me about it, and have been reading all of your posts. I thought I'd post a picture of Shandy in my store, where I was honored to be trusted enough to doggy sit Shandy during her last few days.
I lost my girl, Kassie, a golden retriever two weeks ago, she was just about 14 years old, and had an excellent life.
Being with Shandy and Kerry during this time has been very emotional for me, as I have a pretty fresh wound, but I would have it no other way. I believe the pain of the loss is proportional to the love we share with our babies, and like I said, I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Hi, Lisa

Thanks for posting a picture of Shandy. She looks like such a sweetie.

I'm sorry you and Kerry are both experiencing losses, but I'm glad you have each other for comfort and understanding.

I agree with your statement about not having it any other way. I know the love I got from Shiloh out weighed the pain I've experienced over losing her.

You're both in my thoughts.
Kathleen

What a beautiful picture of Shandy...there is a lot of wisdom in those eyes. I am so sorry for the loss of this beautiful creature. I know the pain is unbearable. That old saying does hold true...time heals the heart. It might not seem like it, but it does. Hang in there...Shandy would want you to...

What a BEAUTIFUL and SWEET Shandy ~ I am so sorry for your loss ~ you are not alone in your grief ~ there are kindred souls here ~ we will be with you along the way ~ I need to know there are others too ~ it helps me understand this foreign world I find myself in ~ hope to hear more from you in the days ahead ~ Goldens touch our world in such a magical way ~ as do they all each so shining and beautiful in the innocent love and joy they bring to our world...May you find comfort in knowing that the love never dies and that the spirit was and is forever ~ Somethings we do not yet understand ~ but as we move through our days of sadness and reflection more will be revealed from that which is greater that we ~ I hope this helps...Sincere Thoughts ~ Kathryn

Peace Be With You ~ Kathryn ~ Angel Amber ~ Angel CC~ and Sammie

I lost my Amber Tabby Girl of nearly 20 years on 3/28/05 after a valiant battle with end stage CRF. Always a beacon in the storm ~ steady and true.

C.C was my purebred White Angora I lost to cancer on 10/22/05 at age 13~ A Big Gentle yet Oddly Eccentric Creature ~Through his congenital deaf ness ~He brought an innocent joy to my life and light to my heart

I also adopted an 8 yr old Burmese named Samantha who led me back into my own room ~ still a stranger to me ~ she sweetly gives peace to Amber's final days spent there and lights my way to see in the darkness of the spaces that my precious CC has left behind.

Lisa, Shandy's face just makes you want to grab those beautiful ears and plant a big 'ol kiss right smack on her nose!! wub.gif

We're glad you're here, Lisa... and sorry at the same time, since losing a baby is what brought you to us.

There are sooooo many wonderful, helpful, thoughtful people on this site and we're all here to help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing a photo of your gorgeous Shandy!

Hugs,

Pat

Oh my goodness! SO CUTE! Look at that silky hair and those furry little paws. What a special girl. Thanks for sharing.

--------------------
Alice Mae Bennett ("Allie") was born around May of 2003. She came home to us in July. On March 10, 2005, she became ill with a condition called mesenteric torsion or volvulus. It is a twisting of the small intestine which is nearly impossible to diagnose. Once symptoms begin it is usually too late to save the intestine by surgical means. There are no known ways to prevent it and its causes are also unknown. It is extremely rare, especially in medium-size females like Allie. It is more common in males of large breeds, like German Shepherds.

Allie was a sweet, happy and loving soul. I will miss her every day. Thanks for giving us these last two years, little girl. We'll always treasure them.

Hi Kerry,

I had an english setter too, he died last august 24th suddenly, after a grand mal seizure that came out of the blue and lasted only about a minute and a half but took his life. No warning at all - he had serious brain damage from the seizure but lasted about a week, getting worse each day until we had to put him down at an emergency hospital. I had a terrible vet who did NOTHING to help him or us after having gone to him for Jake's entire life. Jake is my avatar. He was about 2 months short of his twelveth birthday when he passed on.

I just love English setters, they are the sweetest dogs on earth (my opinion only smile.gif ) and I will miss my jakeybug every single day that I live until the end of my life. Many a day on our walks in the foothills he'd hold me up too, with a half hour pointing out some quail behind a bush or some squirrel up a tree -- but I never begrudged him his time outside, I loved watching him just be himself. I love their silky curly hair and their sweet brown eyes and their gentle gentle souls. I just want my Jake back.

Hang in there, the searing pain does pass slowly but surely.
You learn to live without them as hard as it is, time marches on.
