Almost 4 Weeks, The Dance by Garth Brooks Options

Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks since I lost my beautiful white cat in a hit and run accident. Two days after he died I wrote a letter to our local newspaper in which I poured my heart out. It was published the Friday. I hope the person who took my dear cat's life read it, but I will never know if he did. And if he didn't, hopefully it will prevent others from just driving away after hitting an animal.

I wanted the driver who killed my Poerie to know that he was not just a cat, that he was one of the things in this life that kept me going. And since the driver didn't bother to explain what happened, I have no choice but to blame him for my pain. I'm convinced he was speeding. I can only hope he had an important meeting and made lots of money because of it, then my cat would not have died for nothing.

At the end of my letter I added some of the lyrics of the song "The Dance" by Garth Brooks:

Hi Susan,
I'm very sorry for your loss, especially in the manner in which it happened. I hope the driver and other drivers out there did read your letter. There are far too many pets on the side of too many roads that are left there without another thought and the drivers don't have the foggiest how much pain they have caused. I knew for eleven months that we would lose our Sam but it is still so very hard when it happens, I don't know what I would have done if it had happened in the blink on an eye. Our pets are part of our heart and that driver took part of yours without a thought. These are the times when I hope that there is such a thing as karma!
Best of luck and use this board to vent....it is very comforting....and the lyrics are quite beautiful.

Dear Susan,

I think I may have been taking a little time off from the website when you first posted here, so let me start out by saying that I'm so very sorry for your loss of Poerie, and even more sorry that he died in such a tragic way. You'll never know if the driver that hit Poerie read your letter, but even if one reader was touched by your article, than it served it a great purpose.

I love that song by Garth Brookes. Everytime I hear it I think of Shiloh and end up in a puddle of tears. Another song that always gets me is "One More Day" by Diamond Rio.

Good for you! I hope the driver read it also. I hope that each day brings you a little more peace. I wish I could do more to find Gandalf but I've reached the end of what I can do. I've widened my search area and posted more flyers yesterday and I check the shelters website multiple times a day. I also visit the shelter weekly just in case. Sadly I'm beginning to believe that he can't come home on his own and I don't know if I'll ever find him.

Dear Susan, I am thinking of you and your darling on the 1 month mark. I am glad your had an artical in the paper. I hope that that person who did run down your precious Poer-Woer saw the ad and that their heart is pierced with many arrows. It saddens my heart to know so many people are careless and don't even care who they hurt.

Some are so cruel and vicious they run them down on purpose. One day my daughter's black kitty was walking across the road to go across the street where my daughter's husbands mother lives. Someone in a car saw him crossing the street and sped up as fact as they could and ran him down.

It knocked out some teeth and took the skin and some toes nails off and cut his head open. My daughter had just got in her car to go somewhere and witnessed it all. She said she does not remember throwing the car in park but somehow she did.

She went running to the vet with him and they were able to save him. Midi was never the same after that and now he has cancer. He gets a shot every month but we don't know how much longer he will live. He has already lived longer than they thought he would. Sometimes people are just so cruel.
