I only have a second but thought I'd post this now and add more details in a couple days when I have more time...
My wife has been deemed not to be a risk to herself or anyone else and the rehab place sent her home. She seems to be doing okay right now, but I'm not real optimistic that it's going to last. I'm looking into other options, and will be keeping a close eye on her over the weekend. I've adjusted to this latest situation and am no worse emotionally that I was before the ambien incident. Thank you all for everything. It helped me "bounce back" much quicker this time than previously when she'd do something like this. I'm glad you are looking into other options! I don't understand why rehab didn't keep her for her alcoholism and it doesn't seem right to me. I have a family member that is an alcoholic and I know what it's like. He's been in several rehabs and when he's out of rehab he does wonderful for awhile and then goes right back into it again. We, the family, worry about him........ he is my son. It's heartbreaking to see the toll it is taking on him. I understand perfectly where you are coming from.

Tim,
I am so very sorry to hear what happened and what you're going through. Please don't think that what happened to Quorqui was your fault in any way -- it was not. I can relate though -- I think when things tend to go "wrong," so many of us do blame ourselves. Please take care of yourself and your son as you try to support your wife too. I believe that it is true that an alcoholic has to really want help and that they have to take that first step to help themselves. As much as everyone hopes and prays your wife will stop drinking and as much as we hoped she would have stopped after that happened with Quorqui, she still hasn't stopped, so it seems to me that maybe it is time for her to work more on her own and with professionals and for you and your son to do the same. You and your son have a right to a life free from all of that, I do believe. I hope you and your son will both go to the group meetings that can help you both too. My heart just really goes out to you and your family, and I hope I haven't said anything to offend. I just want to see your life get better. You deserve it. Love, Marcia |
