All, I apologize for dumping "people" issues in our furbaby place, but with the love, understanding and support of all of you wonderful people, I knew I could come here.
My life long friend (since we were 5 years old) suffered a massive heart attack last Monday morning and has been in a coma since then. I just received word that she's not only not expected to recover, she WON'T recover and not expected to last much longer. Ann is only 45 years old. I'm sitting here at my desk, crying my heart out for all that's been wasted in such a beautiful human being... crying for her, my Inky, myself. Although selfish, my thoughts are "what am I going to do without her?? She's always been there for me, has always been in my life, has always been my best friend. I'm sorry for dumping on you... I don't know what to do right now. Pat -------------------- INKY November 26, 1991-February 5, 2005

Pat,
Go talk to her before she's gone. Yes she may be in a coma but she can hear you. Tell her how wonderful a friend she has been, tell her about cherished memories, tell her everything you need to say. I'm so sorry one so young is going this way. I'm 46 and can't imagine not living. Try to celebrate what time she has left. Hugs, Dawn -------------------- Hugs,

I am so sorry. I agree that you should go and talk to her. It will be important for you to have some closure, particularly since this was so quick.

Dear {{{{{{{{Pat}}}}}}}} ---
Oh Pat, really......I am terribly sorry to hear about your best friend's heart attack, with the knowledge that she will most likely not pull through... ![]() She is so very young -- I am 44, and I cannot imagine... Every single day that we are here, we're so lucky! I agree with Dawn and Dee Dee........only if you are able, that you go to her and be with your best friend -- To share whatever time that she has left.. Honestly.....I am sitting here, and I can only imagine your sadness -- If you are close with her family, I know it would mean a lot to them for you to be there..... Go to her, and talk with her -- It is true that she will be able to hear you.... Hearing your voice will bring her comfort ---- knowing that her best friend is with her... QUOTE Although selfish, my thoughts are "what am I going to do without her?? She's always been there for me, has always been in my life, has always been my best friend. You are not being selfish.... Those thoughts are human. I will pray for a miracle....Please, keep us informed... God be with you all..... Love, Denise -------------------- Our Beloved Girl, Ernestine (AKA) "Ernie-Bird"

Dear Pat, I am so sorry that your friend Ann had a heart attack and is in a coma and is not expected to live. I agree with everyone that you should go and talk to her and tell her all she means to you. It is just so sad when we have to let go of those we love and her being only 45 makes it so hard. I am 51 so she is a lot younger than me. I prayed and will continue to pray for her.

Dear Pat,
I'm so sorry to hear about your best friend, Ann. You must be in shock to face this happening to her at 45 (I'm 48......) I also will pray for a miracle. I agree that if you can, you should go and be with her. I think she'll know you're there and will feel comforted by your presence. Thinking of you. Love, Lynn -------------------- Rusty, I will always love you and never forget you. Thank you for more than 7 wonderful years.

I am sorry to hear about Ann, I am 48 and I was thinking the other day, that I am getting to the age when some of my friends will start passing.
Yes, go tell her that you love her and thank her and tell her you will be seeing her soon. My heart goes out to you losing your friend and so young, I know she is someone who carries your secrets, and your love they wil always be part of who she is, you will always be part of who she is. Dearest Dawn, Dee Dee, Denise, Ann, Lynn & Pamela,
Thank you all for your prayers, support, energy and loving words... they mean a lot. I have been at Ann's bedside from day one and I think I'm talking her ears off! If she could speak, I'm sure I'd hear her ever-present "oh, please shut up already!" ![]() This just isn't real to me. Although I'm there and seeing what I see, it just cannot be a reality. This woman is always on the go, always doing something for someone (to the point that ya just wanna smack her) and always busy. This is a friend that took two months off from work to stay with me when I went through an illness 8 years ago so that I wouldn't be home alone while my husband had to return to work. Although I didn't have to have someone there, she didn't want me to have nobody to "play" with all day.. and OH LORD did we ever play!!! LOL Ann was also the kind of friend that would make sure she was over the house on Inky's birthday to bring him is favorite food, a bunch of the BIGGEST shrimp I've ever seen. Soon he'll have her with him and they'll take care of each other, which makes my heart smile. I love her. We are the kind of friends that said that each and every time we saw each other or spoke on the phone (which was very often). We said it so much that our husbands said they always "wonder" about us! LOL! My friend is in God's hands until He decides when He wants her. I know that this is the ultimate outcome, but accepting it is a whole different animal. I honestly thank each and every one of you to allow me to come here and get this out to you all, when I know that YOU have YOUR pain right now. My love to each of you. Dear Pat, I am so glad you have been with your friend and talking to her and telling her how much you love her. When my mother passed away I learned that we should live each day as though it will be our last. Thank God mom and I was one to tell each other each day that we loved each other. It is so important for we never know when our time will be up. We need to repeatedly tell people how we feel, how much we love and care for them.
I learned not to sweat the small stuff in life. That which used to upset me was no longer important. We need to do all we can for others while we are still able. We need to tell those we love how very much we do love them and what having them in our lives means to us. We need to speak kind, loving, gentle words to those who remain in our world. Does that mean there will never be any squabbles or things we may disagree upon, no, not at all but we should always think before we speak. For it may be the last words we ever say to someone. Life is so short and life is fragile, my mom always said what you do for others and what you do for God is the only thing that matters in the end. I am so glad we have each other here at LS to turn to when our hearts are broken. It doesn't matter if it is animal or human we can come here and find compassion and caring. I hope you let us know how your precious friend is doing, we all care. I care about all of you here at LS, you all mean so much to me.
