Hi Kate, Did you write the poem yourself? It is very pretty and thanks so very much for sharing it with us. I always used to tell my little Snookie she was safe in Mama's arms. I kept her in my arms for almost 11 years.

Yeah, that's one of mine.

Every time I read a post on here, even if I don't respond, all I really want to do is give the poster a big hug. I wish I could shelter each and every animal lover from ever, EVER having to experience the pain that we're going through.

Things are coming a little easier for me now. My anger is disappearing, I'm starting to accept the fact that Mr. Zen is gone. Yesterday I found myself grinning like a lunatic as I thought about some of the funny things that Zen used to do.

I mean, really... how many cats like pistachio pudding? He'd go hog wild with the stuff, lapping it up to the point it sould splatter and he'd have little green gobbets of pudding stuck in his whiskers.

I was reading a post about a dog named Thor this morning, and so many things that the poster mentioned were not so different from some of the things I would mention about Zen. Instead of crying, I smiled and was glad that Thor was so loved.

My locket should be showing up tomorrow. I'll take Zen's fur from the brush and put it in my locket, then the other kitties will finally get their brush back. Sniper, specifically, wants me to hurry up with the thing. Other than that, I broke out my old peridot jewelry and have been wearing it in his honor. I even went a little crazy on eBay and put together a whole kitty charm bracelet. Not just to honor him, but every single cat in my life, even the ones that smell funny and chew on my ears when I'm sleeping.

I probably won't log on so much now... I've come to the point where my memories are bearable; I don't want to overthink this and re-experience all the feelings of loss that I felt the first few days after Mr. Zen was gone. That being said, I'll check in from time to time, to offer words of comfort or once again read some of the posts that have touched me so very deeply.

My love goes out to each and every one of you, and your pets, past, present, and future. The love you feel for your friends is worthy of many poems and songs. May we find those poems and songs in our hearts, and share them with our animals when we cross the bridge.

Thanks, Kate. I am glad that you are feeling better. And it gives me hope that I will feel better some day, too. I have read several of your posts and love the imagery that is conveyed in them. And I loved the poem. Since my cat was abused before he found me, I always wanted to protect him. I think I would have taken on anything that tried to harm him.

Mr. Zen and Mijo are probably playing together, just waiting for us to join them.
