I wanted to thank everyone who posted nice thoughts and encouragement. It has been over a month now since Bear was lost to me. Finding this place has helped. Last week, my fiance convinced me to visit the humane society, and we brought home a new baby. I didnt think that I would so soon. Although I will never be able to replace or forget Bear, he will always be dearly loved and missed. I will find a photo to post later.

Hi aviatrix,

I'm so sorry about Bear.

I think it's wonderful you have love enough to rescue another furbaby - God knows they need it. You are right, no one will ever replace Bear, they are individuals like we are.

One of the best things my mom ever said to me was right after my DH and I had to put to sleep a puppy we adopted because he had distemper (this was in 1985) - I said I will never go through that again and my mom said "So, you're going to give up 15 years of love because of this pain?"

Who knew at that point, we would be a foster home and would end up with 9 of our own dogs???

God bless you - you will continue to heal and I really think your new furbaby will help that healing.

We just had to put to sleep our beloved beagle, Corky, last Friday and I know that coming home to little faces helps ease that grief.

Kristen,

I am so happy that your fiance convinced you to adopt another burbaby. I can't wait to see a picture!

I am so sorry your lost your little Bear. I know you love him and will never forget him. What kind of new baby did you get and how old is he or she. I am so glad you got one and will be able to fill your heart once again.

My girls went to the Rainbow Bridge 6 weeks and 3 days apart.
Snookie had cushing's disease, and later developed diabetes. Both had cancer, Snookie had cancer of the liver, and Chili Bean had cancer of the pallet. Chili Bean was our son's chihuahua but we kept her often throughout her life and she stayed with us for the last 9 months of her life. Chili Bean also had asthma and heart failure. We will see you in Heaven my precious darlings.
