The following is an email from this site:
http://www.bestfriends.org/allthegoodnews/

"So far this morning, more than 23,000 people are counted among the dead
in the
world's most powerful earthquake in 40 years. Millions of other animals
will
go uncounted amid the devastation. And the toll will doubtless rise.

The 9.0 earthquake, resulting from the India Plate shifting under the
Burma
Plate, erupted underwater off the Indonesian island of Sumatra on
Sunday and
sent walls of water, up to 40 feet high, barreling at 500 miles per
hour
thousands of miles across the Indian Ocean, killing people even in
Africa.

Forces like this are way outside of the scope or ability of people to
prevent
or cope with. In the course of history, whole civilizations -- the
works of
humans -- have been reduced to rubble by the power of the earth.
Any of us anywhere are subject to powers of nature that are indifferent
to
human aims and goals and strivings.

Spending one's life laying up treasure and power on earth may be
something of
an exercise in futility. But kindness to each other, to animals, and to
all
living creatures is never in vain. It is indestructible. Indeed, in the
final
&%^ysis, it may be the greatest power of all.

Hi Kathleen,
Thanks again. I WISH those were my words, but they aren't. The quote was included in the email I got and posted here, and actually I don't know if the guy who writes the Best Friends Newsletter wrote that quote or who did.
Just wanted to clarify that.

My family and I have been following this story. It is just so devastating for the people and animals over there. What a sad thing to live through.

--------------------

My girls went to the Rainbow Bridge 6 weeks and 3 days apart.
Snookie had cushing's disease, and later developed diabetes. Both had cancer, Snookie had cancer of the liver, and Chili Bean had cancer of the pallet. Chili Bean was our son's chihuahua but we kept her often throughout her life and she stayed with us for the last 9 months of her life. Chili Bean also had asthma and heart failure. We will see you in Heaven my precious darlings.

Wow Punky's Mom. That's an amazing story. Really amazing. That was neat too how they said he always comes back to sleep with them no matter how many times they throw him out.
Thanks,
Marcia

I belong to Best Friends also. smile.gif I love them so much. They really inspire me to see that no matter how many jerks there are in the world who would hurt animals....there's so many MORE who care about the animals. I've been a member for years and they also have a nice Rainbow Bridge memorial. I would love some time to visit the sanctuary...it's out in Kanab, UT. The pictures I've seen are so beautiful. And their Angel's Rest memorial site is beautifully situated among the canyons. If anyone is interested in checking it out, there site is www.bestfriends.org
