I just found this site while looking for somewhere to express the grief and pain I feel at the loss of my beloved Cassie. We had her such a short time but she became an integral part of our lives and our plans for the future and now she's gone and I can't stop crying. For such a beautiful baby to die from poisoning is so horrible I still can hardly comprehend it. I don't think this pain will ever go away. She was one of an abandoned litter of five Rhodesian Ridgeback - X puppies, all girls, found in a field by my neighbour. They were no more than four weeks old and over the ensuing weeks we fell totally in love with Cassie and took her into our own home at New Year. She was bright, beautiful and loving and already learning to understand and obey simple commands. While my neighbour and I were out walking Cassie and her sister, Sheba, who my neighbour kept from the litter, she must have picked up something poisoned and the vet just couldn't do anything to save her. I feel so guilty and so heartbroken.

I am so sorry that your little Cassie was poisoned. Some times we do every thing we can to protect our babies and horrible things still happen. It doesn't take very long to love them with all our hearts. We just lost our 2 girls 6 weeks apart one was 10 and one was almost 11 and my heart feels like it will never heal either. Come and tell us about your little Cassie.
Ann -------------------- My girls went to the Rainbow Bridge 6 weeks and 3 days apart. Snookie had cushing's disease, and later developed diabetes. Both had cancer, Snookie had cancer of the liver, and Chili Bean had cancer of the pallet. Chili Bean was our son's chihuahua but we kept her often throughout her life and she stayed with us for the last 9 months of her life. Chili Bean also had asthma and heart failure. We will see you in Heaven my precious darlings. Snookie Lynn Howard 2-04-94 - 12-26-04 Senorita Chili Bean Bubbles Howard 11-05-94 - 11-11-04 |

Thnak you so much for your kind words - it really does help to know that there are folks who understand just how I feel. I still go walking twice a day with my neighbour and Sheba, Cassie's sister, and that helps too, except that I have to go home without a puppy companion. I still keep crying and feel so depressed but I'm still so glad we had Cassie, even for a little while.

I'm so sorry to hear about yor Cassie.
I know how hard it is to loose a dog to poisoning. My baby Girl just died Tuesday after she ate some pills. Do you have a picture of Cassie you could share with us? If you need to talk feel free to email me at christina_cochran@hotmail.com. Don't feel guilty, you did everything you could to save her life. This is a very tragic thing that has happened, and I know the guilt you are feeling. But know this, Cassie loved you and I'm sure she doesn't blame you. My baby Girl and your precious Cassie were angels sent to us to teach us. Although you had her for such a short time, she was still your baby. Remember, we are here if you need to talk. Christina -------------------- Girl, I hope you and Raven have found eachother.
Raven, greet Girl with open wings! She may be frightened so give her some comforting kisses. Spencer, thanks for being such a loving birdie through all this. Thank God I still have you! |
