I had to have surgery 3/26 and I took Kurby's ashes with me to the hospital. I sat him by my hospital bed. My parents and husband seemed totally supportive about this although my husband did give me a "little look" when he first saw I had packed Kurby's ashes in my overnight bag. The nurses and doctor never asked what it was. I really didn't care. It was my decision. I felt "at ease" as he is my little "guardian" angel now.
Would you guys have done the same? Kurbysma -------------------- "Beginnings are scary and endings are usually sad but it's the middle that counts the most....." Hope Floats.

I don't think you are crazy at all. He is your little "guardian" angel and you needed him near. I still bring Moosie's Urn into the bedroom some nights, not every night anymore but some nights I just need to have them on the night table so he 'feels' near. Maybe we both are crazy, but I think if it helps you out, so what? Be as nuts as you need to be. Love -------------------- Lori

My husband used to joke that even though Daisy was a tiny Yorkshire terrier, her soul was so large and fiercely protective that nothing could ever happen to me while she was alive. After she died, I felt that I had lost my protector until my husband reminded me that now she was pure soul or spirit and could protect even better than when she was trapped in her body. I feel that she is with me always, just as Kurby is with you. He is with you, protecting you, regardless of where his ashes are, but if you like to have them near, there is nothing wrong with that. Daisy's remains are in our living room in a pink marble case. I will keep her remains with me always, and have them buried with me when it is my turn. Is that strange? I don't care and neither should you.

Thanks guys. I didn't feel I was crazy. I wasn't ashamed of having him there. If the nurses and doctors had asked me what it was, I would have told them. When I made my list of items to carry to the hospital, he was #1. Didn't think twice. Kurby was a "Rottweiler" in a "Yorkie" body and I knew as long as he was beside me, I would come out of surgery fine.
Just like Daisy, Kurby was FIERCELY protective of me. He was "my baby" and always will be. And I'm proud to say, I'm home and recouping quite well. Thanks to Kurby....and GOD!
