The Innocense Of A Child, Grand baby wanted a part of Snookie Options

My 7 year old grand baby Sara, who will be 8 in a few days came to spend the night with me. She pulled out a bunch of change and said Grammy if I give you all the money I have will you share a part of Snookie with me.

I think my mouth hung open and I asked what do you mean baby, but I knew what she meant. Sara said I want a part of Snookie when she comes back as ashes or whatever she comes back as. There were tears in her beautiful blue eyes as she waited for my reply.

I told her that Snookie would be in a urn sealed in a baggie wrapped in a cloth and I didn't think you were able to break open the seal and take any out. I told her if I could I would and she would never have to pay for it.

I went to the bathroom to have a cry as I thought about how hard the cremation was for me and how my mind fought against it but here was a little child wanting to keep Snooks close to her in what ever form she could get her.

Sara usually called her Snookums and now that precious child wants to keep her close to her no matter what form she is in. She was my grandbaby that wanted Chili Beans collar and tags too she said if only she could have them that's all she wanted for Christmas.

Sara got the collar and tags and so much more for Christmas. Oh how I love that child and she loves animals as much as I do. She has had to deal with so much death in her short life but she keeps right on loving on anyway.

Now I know for sure I can deal with the cremains of my little Snookie Cookie. For Sara sees Snookums not as cremains but as part of the Snookums that she loved, kissed, held and played with, as one who gave her comfort and joy and the one she had so much fun with.

I will think of Snookie with that frame of mind too. I guess it takes the innocence of a child to teach me to see with my heart and not with my eyes. How thankful and grateful I am to this wonderful loving grand daughter of mine.

Thank you all so much I wanted you to know how sometimes all we need is a little child to teach us things. Through their eyes we can see so much more than with ours.

I am one not only lucky but one who is blessed, so very blessed. Clair and I have 6 beautiful grandchildren and they are all so wonderful oh they are not without faults as none of us are but I think of them as angels.

They have filled my life with love, joy, and goodness, they have taught me so much. No wonder the Bible says a child shall lead them. I just wish the snow and ice storm had not come and now I can't go pick Snookie up until Friday.

What a beautiful picture of your granddaughter and her furbaby. You're very lucky to have someone in your family that cherishes animals as much as you do. I always figured my kids would be like that, but I never had any and my nieces and nephews seem to not have that. I guess you either have it or you don't. My father loved our dogs but not like I did. It's weird because no one else in my immediate family feels like I do.

Art Linkletter always said that kids say the darnedest things, and he's right. Sara hit the nail on the head. We could all learn something from her. What a beautiful sentiment.

My dear friends in 6 hours Clair and I will be leaving to get our little girl since the roads are pretty good now. I don't know how I will be when I hold the urn in my hands and press it to my heart but my husband will go with me. He too is afraid he might cry and I told him just to let it rip and if people don't like it they can turn away. In my way of thinking it takes a real man to cry anyway, but he is 54 and was taught not to cry.

So far tonight I have been unable to sleep and I feel so sick to my stomach. Plus we are taking Gypsy Rose with us to have her 2 loose teeth pulled, that is unless she still has her fever. She has been on antibotics for her upper respiratory infection so we hope the vet will be able to pull the teeth and do the cleaning.

Pamela, I hope you and your car are alright and that no damage was done. It must have been frightening when you lost control I hope all is well.

As far as our four children our son loves furry animals of all kinds, he treats them with love. Both our oldest and youngest daughter thinks of them as pets, but our middle daughter loves her animals as if they are her own children. Of all the 6 grandchildren we have Sara is a real lover of them too.

My husbands bird, a quaker parrot, Chico, keeps saying Snookie, Snookie, Snookie every time he sees Schnitzel. We don't know if he just wants Snookie back or if he thinks Schnitzel is Snookie. It makes me sad when he calls out her name. I never was sure if Snookie wanted to play with him or try to eat him. She never touched him but she sure tilted her head and gave strange looks.

Chico is only in the cage at night but comes and walks on the floor by day and plays on his big cage and of course sits on us. The cats and dogs never bother him but we keep a close eye on him anyway.

I guess I will try to go lay back down and at least rest if I dont fall asleep.
