I've been away from the site for awhile so many of you won't know me. Anyway, earlier this week our indoor bunny Viscount Peter was bounding around and happy. No medical problems with him. Thursday morning he came up to the cage front and begged for a treat. Afterwards he ate some hay and sprawled out to take a nap. That was how I found him when I got home. Apparently he died in his sleep suddenly and peacefully. It was probably either a heart attack or a stroke. Peter was 6 years old. We will miss him very much as Peter was a real sweetheart.

I'm so sorry to hear about another one of your sweet bunnies having transitioned, and so unexpectedly! Glad that you came back to let us know here, though. I guess this is one of those rarer times when one can truly know there was nothing at all you could have done, and so there is nothing really awful to regret.

My sincerest sympathies to you and your whole family, furred and otherwise. The "afterlife" is now a sweeter place, too, with Peter a part of it. wub.gif

Hi, Ken, please permit me to offer you my sincerest sympathies in the loss of your beloved Viscount Peter (what a royal name for a royal rabbit). Losing a beloved companion is never easy regardless of the circumstances or how long we have been blessed with the privilege of their company. The blessing is that Peter died in the environment he loved best - - his home. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, Ken, and please let us know how you're doing.

Peace and blessings,
moon-beam

. Apparently he died in his sleep suddenly and peacefully.

That is a peaceful thought to help the healing. I am sorry for your loss. Each loss hurts but out of love, we endure and have others, and so the cycle continues.

But each and every one of them is worth the pain....for the joy they give us while they are with us...is priceless.

Hugs, Ken

I'm very sorry for your sudden loss. My rabbit, Rex, was 6 (almost 7) when he passed as well. I, too, came home one night to find he had apparently passed in his sleep (I hope). He was my first fur child to cross the bridge, and it was particularly hard being how sudden it was. I've realized now, after having to put my dog to sleep three months ago, that it was also a blessing. When your last memories are of them being happy and partaking in their daily routine, it's comforting. It sounds like Viscount Peter had a stress free and gentle transition to the other side, and he, just like my Rex, lived a very long and fulfilling life for a bunny! That was in '06 and I still miss and think about him frequently. They change our lives and take a piece of our heart no matter how big or small. I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
