My Baby Bailey Died Today Options

My 5 year old cat, Bailey, died today.

He was very sick this past month, then got better, then got very sick again. The doctor told me he wasn't at the point of dying, yet, but was in critical condition. I visited him Friday at the hospital, my fiance (his daddy) visited Saturday, we were unable to visit Sunday and he died last night in his sleep without us seeing him one last time.

I can't stop crying. I feel like he's here with me and then I realize he's not and it hurts so bad. He was so young and it was somewhat unexpected, it makes his death seem so unreal. I feel like I'm in a bad dream. I keep hoping I wake up and he's curled up right next to me, purring.

I miss him so much right now. I just want him here so badly while I'm typing away at the computer but he's not. I can't believe I'll never see him again.

I am so sad. He was my baby boy.

I am so sorry about Bailey. It always hurts when we lose a pet, it seems to hurt double when they go so young. My cat Odin was three when he passed away. I feel cheated of the time that was taken away from me because he went so young. And even though you didnt get to see Bailey one more time before he passed on he knew how much you loved him and he is with you in spirit. The first few days will be emotionally hard for you. Just be gentle with yourself and give yourself the time you need to cope. Its the old cliche, but it will get better. Acceptance is the hardest hurdle to get over, but once you do, with time, you'll be able to remember him with a smile instead of tears.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear about your Bailey's passing. I know exactly how you feel. It is so hard to get your mind around the fact that your beloved baby isn't physically there with you. And losing a beloved one is hard no matter what, but when you lose one so young, it seems so unfair!

My heart and prayers go out to you during this very difficult time. The pain can be very intense, and unfortunately, the only way to get through it is to sit with the pain and feel it and cry and do whatever else you need to do. I agree with Cynthia that you should be gentle with yourself. Talk to people who will understand (like the lovely people on this site), reminisce with Bailey's daddy about all the things you treasure about him, do whatever feels right to you to memorialize him. But take everything an hour at a time, because it can and it will get better.

If it helps at all, I am positive that Bailey is with you in spirit, showing you again how much he loves you! I believe that he has gone on to a better place, where he will always be healthy and happy and safe from harm. And he will be waiting for you when the time is right for you to be together again.

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's been almost a month since my sweet doggy died and it does get easier. But it takes time. Please know that you are in my thoughts and there are so many people here to help you through this difficult time.
