Hi everyone,
A very dear friend and work mate lost her little girl, Razzy yesterday to a truck. I work at a grooming shop and have known Razzy since she was a tiny little pup. She was a spirited little Rat Terrier/ Chih. cross. And she was all ears. You know, those huge corn stalk ears that spring up like skyscrapers when she spyed something interesting. She had long, graceful legs and would spring from floor to grooming table in a single step. She was a little gazelle in a dog's body. She didn't bark, she talked. She'd amuse herself in her crate for hours, laying on her back chortelling and "rawring" to her toys. She'd go from sound asleep to (play) attack mode in half a second and was always ready to wrestle. She'd prefer to walk on her two hind legs than on all fours. She could see more that way, I think. When I close my eyes and picture her in my minds eye, I just feel the joy that was the essence of Razzy. Yesterday, Razzy didn't come to work with my friend. It was very busy for Thanksgiving and for many reasons, my friend decided it was better for her to stay home. Somehow, Razzy snuck out and began to walk the same route my friend and she took to come to work. She must have tried to cross the street and a truck hit her. A very kind person stopped and at least pulled her to the side of the road. She was killed less than 1/2 mile from our work. This morning my boss called the shelter and was told that at least she likely passed instantly. We also were able to recover her collars and we have gone to "Things Remembered" and bought a silver keepsake box with Razzy's name engraved in it to keep the collars and any other momentos. We all worked yesterday with blurry eyes and with choked back tears. It's always horrible when we lose on of the kids we've been grooming or sitting for years. But this is one of our own. And she was only 3. I am posting in hopes to be able to print all the responses and create a scrapbook for her to keep and read for comfort in the painful weeks and months ahead. Razzy's Mom is Crystal and she is about the sweetest person I've ever known. To double this tragedy, she lost a little poodle puppy about a year before she found Razzy to a genetic heart defect. My heart is broken for her. Thanks for listening, Lisa |
