Guilt, 8+ years later, I still feel it. Options

Daisy left us on April 1, 2006. She was almost 12 years old and had a congenital liver defect which was supposed to kill her before she was 3. I feel that part of the reason she lived so long was because she knew how much we needed her and we loved her so much. She died two months after my son was born. Although we tried to give her as much affection and care as always, she seemed low after his arrival. I feel like she died because she felt betrayed by our love for our son. My sister told me that she thinks that Daisy died because at last she felt that I would be okay without her. These thoughts still bring tears to my eyes all these years later.

I can't bear the thought of her feeling betrayed or sad.

I miss Daisy and think of her often. She was the dog of my life.
