Hello I'm new to the forum.
I had my 11 year old cat Lucy put to sleep on 11th Jan. She had cancer in her mouth. She was a black and white extoic shorthair. We had her since she was 9 weeks old. |

Hi, nicola, please permit me to add my sincerest sympathies in the physical loss of your beloved Lucy. Losing a companion is never easy regardless of the circumstances or how long we are blessed with the privilege of their company. Euthanasia is the last gift of love we can give to our companions on this side of eternity -- at great sacrifice to ourselves - - so that they can be restored to their former youthfulness in the company of the angels.
Nicola, this grief journey is filled witih many emotions sometimes overwhelming us all at once. There are many ups and downs, twists and turns and turnarounds that we can begin to think we are going insane. And just when we think we're through the worst of it, "something" can come along to send us back into the circle of grief all over again. This grief journey is frequently referred to as a horror roller coaster ride. Please let me try to reassure you that it will not always be like this. This grief journey is one of adjustment to the physical absence of our beloved companions. It is a one day at a time journey, sometimes one moment at a time, that can only be traveled in your own way and in your own time. But I promise you, nicola, that you are never alone in your journey. Each of us here do understand what you are going through, and we are here for you for as long and as often as you need us. You are among friends here, nicola. And I promise you that one day, probably when you least expect it, you will be thinking of your beloved Lucy and you find yourself smiling - - truly smiling - - and your heart will fill with the many treasured memories you and your beloved Lucy share. But this is just going to take time, nicola. I know right now there are no adequate words in any language that can soothe the seering pain of loss in your heart. But I can only hope that the words I share with you will somehow offer you some measure of comfort, support, encouragement, and hope as you travel your journey. Thank you so very much for sharing your beloved Lucy with us, nicola. Perhaps sometime you would like to share a picture(s) of her with us - - but only if / when you want to. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, nicola, and look forward to knowing how you're doing. Peace and blessings, moon_beam -------------------- In heaven's perfect garden there is no grief or pain, and all of God's creation join the angels' sweet refrain.
The most blessed way I have of knowing God's comforting love and grace is to look into the eyes and heart of God's creatures' sweet angelic face. |
