I hope I did not over look anyones post. I try so hard to bring hope, encouragement and compassion to everyone but I have been so worried over my Snookie that I didn't reply to anyones post for a day.

My darling is home from the hospital now and she is better than she has been for a long time. She is still not eating very much but she has more energy now and seems more cheerful. At least she is not just laying with her head down.

I am learning how to give her the insulin shots as it has to be done twice a day. She is getting only two units in each shot until they do another test because she just wouldn"t each much for them. It is hard for me to take it all in but the vet said something about a doing a test. a curve of some kind and it is a day long test with the blood drawn every hour. We will know more then if she needs more insulin once she starts eating again.

Well I am still so bummed out that this has happened to my baby that I just am not myself tonight. I will write more later.

My girls went to the Rainbow Bridge 6 weeks and 3 days apart.
Snookie had cushing's disease, and later developed diabetes. Both had cancer, Snookie had cancer of the liver, and Chili Bean had cancer of the pallet. Chili Bean was our son's chihuahua but we kept her often throughout her life and she stayed with us for the last 9 months of her life. Chili Bean also had asthma and heart failure. We will see you in Heaven my precious darlings.

Hi Ann:

How are you and your family????

I hope that things are getting "a bit easier" with the injections..............but, it really, really does take quite awhile,
before you'll be able to give an insulin injection without that 'SICK FEELING IN YOUR STOMACH'.........

I know this because of Ms. Lucy.......

Our wonderful veterinarian wants Lucy to be on kind of an "Atkins diet"...............Much, much more protein than a
normal kitty.........
Ms. Lucy weighs 10.5 pounds...........

So...........we buy the Hill's MD, and the Purina DM (both "diabetic - HIGH PROTEIN) crunchies....... She likes the former
the best..........
Mr. Yoster (funny enough prefers the latter!!! happy.gif )

When "it's injection time".............I open a can of her fancy feast "fish with aspic"........(God.....such a HORRID SMELL!!),
BUT, I tease her with it for a few minutes until she seems ravenous...................
And then, after I put her dish down, she can't eat fast enough, and I grab enough "scruff", make a tent, and GO FOR IT.

She has growled a bit, and even moved slightly...............but, Ben and I have been able to give her injection without her
stopping "her feast"..... rolleyes.gif (Thank you Dearest God!!!)

I promise you, Ann.................YOU WILL GET USED TO IT!!!!!!

I absolutely NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD..............I remember getting soooooooooooo frustrated and saying, "forget it, I'm done with this ---- I'm not doing it anymore".............

But, somehow................things do work out............. wub.gif

If ever you need any help, I'm here for you!!!!

God Bless!!

Love, Denise
