Well, I have posted here about my boy Brutus dying. It has been 6 weeks now since the terrible tragedy. I also posted that he was going to be a daddy and I was thinking out keeping a pup....well the pups were born and only one male is left. The other 3 males unfortunately died right after birth.
I had gotten some wonderfula advice from several of you on the message board about possibly keeping a puppy of my wonderful Brutus. I am now struggling with something different..."What if the puppy doesn't look ANYTHING like my Brutus?" I wanted a puppy that has at least some of the same features as my boy. What if that doesn't happen? Maybe the one boy that survived is a "sign" from Brutus that I AM to actually keep this little boy of his? I don't know? I am kind of rambling at the moment. Please forgive the rambling thoughts. I am very confused. He is precious though and looks dark in color as his dad. Confused, Thanks. ![]() |

Hi, Rallytally, there is uncertainty in EVERY relationship, so yes, being "scared" when entering a new relationship - - in whatever form that is - - is perfectly normal.
What a puppy looks like can be totally different once they begin growing and come into their "manhood." So even adopting an heir to Brutus is no guarantee that he / she would continue to look like their father as they mature. I agree with Juturna, "When the water is muddy, it is often best to sit and wait for the sediment to settle." And Joanne, "If you are still unsure, then, it may not be the right time for you." However, the ultimate decision is up to you, Rallytally, - - no one can make this decision for you. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, and will look forward to knowing how things are going whenever possible. Peace and blessings, moon_beam -------------------- In heaven's perfect garden there is no grief or pain, and all of God's creation join the angels' sweet refrain.
The most blessed way I have of knowing God's comforting love and grace is to look into the eyes and heart of God's creatures' sweet angelic face. |
