Hi all

I'm new to this forum and here's my story.

I have always been an animal lover and was brought up in the countryside by a mum who bred cats and dogs, we also had a range of small animals and on occasion livestock. When i bought my first home back in 2005 pets were a priority of mine so I took in neglected and abused animals. My first baby was Ruby, oh how i miss her! She was an 8(ish) year old rottie who after the death of her owners was abandoned by the rest of the family and ended up at a questionable RSPCA centre near me for over 18 months before I found her. She was in a state and obviously hated it there. I wanted a smaller younger dog but as soon as we met I knew it was meant to be, I had her for nearly 2 glorious years before she was taken from me, thankfully quickly, in my arms. By this time i had taken in Rosie, a welsh collie, who was neurotic as they come, scared of everything bless her, but with time, love and help from Ruby she is now a lovely little poppet. After the death of Ruby I joined the rottie welfare assoc. as I fell in love with the breed and my current baby is Teagan. She was found roaming the streets, had been bred from too young an age and had a shattered knee. She had trust issues but took to me and Rosie immediately. She is such a 'mum', looking after my guinea pigs, loving children and generally slobbering on anyone!

I missed having cats, a few strays had temporarily moved in with us for a while but then moved on so I decided to take in a beautiful little black and white kitten last november. We called him marley and immediately teagan became his mum. He was such a little character and befriended many of my neighbours and their cats. But yesterday a knock at the door came soon after I got up, when i opened it a lady told me she had found a little black and white cat that she thought she recognised as ours, i first thought he had got lost but then she explained she had found a body. I rushed out to check if it was him and could see that it was before I got close. My little baby lying there lifeless under a tree. I scooped him up and nearly ran home. The presumption was that he had been run over, but after speaking to a few people later that day and thinking more logically about his injuries and where he was found it looks like he may have been killed by a local sicko. 6 cats have been killed in my tiny lane recently, some poisoned with 3 suffering an agonising death, some shot with an air rifle. There were stories like this stretching back years, all of which were linked to a man who lives in the lane behind my house.

I want so much to believe it was a car that took my marley, that he died instantly and didn't suffer, but i'm not so sure. He was less than a year old, such a waste of a life! Teagan and Rosie are so upset, they are just lying around the house doing nothing and whining. I can't explain this to them, i tell them it's ok but they see me so upset and i'm sure they don't believe me. The house feels empty without marley, i can feel something is missing, the house has lost something - energy, spark, whatever u want to call it. I am going to pursue these killings, many dogs too who walk in a popular field have become very ill recently, if poison is being laid down in that area children are also at risk as it is used by many for games, BBQ's etc. in summer it looks like a village green from the 1950's, everyone is there enjoying themselves.

I can't describe how upset i am about losing my baby boy. I buried him yesterday next to Ruby who will take care of him now. I also can't explain how angry I am at the disgusting behaviour of people who think it's ok to kill animals. I will do everything I can to try and stop it, at the moment i'm trying to stop myself paying this guy a visit, although not an aggressive person myself i may loose it when confronted with someone as sick as him.

I'm going for a cry xx

Dearest Rosie,

Firstly, I'm so sorry to get here two months after the fact. I read all you and the others have said and wept. Truly, I wept.

Next, please know you are a saint! An Angel sent from above to all those creatures who no one else would have because of their age, size, personality quirks or for whatever reason. God bless you for being who you are and doing all you do!

If young Marley kitty was murdered, justice will ultimately be served. Word. One way or the other. If it was your neighbor who you referred to, or whoever did it (if Marley was indeed murdered), please rest assured that Karma will get them but good.

Hoping your broken wings have mended from this awful event and wishing you continued success in all future endeavors.

Many Comforting Hugs!

Always, Dottie xoxoxox
