We were doing pretty good there for awhile. To re-cap. I posted here a month or so ago and received very nice support. Our beloved "Wally" a Bichon, so mellow and so smart had terrible grand mal seizures. They would go away and crop up. These are brain storms that left him in a tunnel between this world and some other limbo. :-(
So, we'd run because you could hear him, wipe his mouth and call to him, "Wally? It's okay. It's okay, sweetie. It's almost over...Wally!" They progressed to having more Brain Storms. On the last day, he had 12 seizures in one day. I know he had damage to his brain, and chose to euthanize our "beloved". He was fast to go where he is playing and running and with a pack of other Wallys, I suppose. Just when I thought I was fine, I drove around a corner by a Park. All the parking is on the side I was driving--the other side homes. And suddenly I felt an impact, heard a yelp, slammed the brakes, and I HIT A DOG OFF LEASH. OH MY GOD!! I got out and he ran. I found him. He went back across the street and was ALIVE. The front end of my car is as high as a soda pop can, and I thank what Angel or force saved him. If I had been going any faster... I saw blood on his paw and he was limping. People in the park were HORRIBLE TO ME! He wasn't Neutered and was "shopping"---a Pitbull mix. I stayed and there was a heatwave. Where I live, we get very sick in 102 degrees. I waited for an on-call Vet, shaking, thinking of my dog. This woman was mentally needy for attention--got towels (so she could support her comfy knees) and pet the dog over and over and over one place in some space out. She took over, and when I tried to approach, she'd yell. I started to feel so dizzy and heard it might take another hour. I hadn't been able to cool off, put 2 plastic pieces of my Mazda 6 even in my car. Standing there, 3 women, 2 with babies in strollers sensed I could do no more. The Vet said he was NOT in shock, no broken bones and I needed to leave the scene. I belong to the ASPCA, and I'd gone through more than the Good Samaritan rule. One woman said, "Excuse me, Ma'am, but you seem really defensive." No kidding! It broke my heart, but there was no ID and someone was coming to transport the dog. I fell apart when one woman said, "Humph! WELL YOU HIT THE DOG! YOU STAY!" I walked off and the Police arrived. The woman who pet the dog numb got really yelled at for taking my phone number and name and refused to give my information back. It was in her house right across the street! We had an audience. I never got it back. The dog was found that same day at the best Trauma ER Vet in our State. We called and called that office. The owners never asked if I was okay...guess they were more concerned with the fact that the VETs probably demanded that the dog be neutered. I'm so glad it's over, but it has shaken me so badly. Thank you. I'm so sorry for all of your loses. |

What an awful feeling..and to go thru all that trauma with those people to boot. I blame the pet owner for this, if it hadn't been nuetured than they obviously don't care what it does or where it goes. I know how you feel, I'd be devestated. I'm glad the dog will be ok. You will be too.. Hugs.. Ann
