I have been searching the internet for answers on this, but it is so complicated.
I would like to know if anyone has ever experienced their pet having jaundice (eyes/gums yellow) and black feces (signifying upper GI bleed?) and what was your pet's diagnosis and did they recover? I am really choked up right now, I need to hear some stories, good or bad. Thank you. |

I know what you mean about where she last was lying down. My spot is in the living room where we are every day and my boy Little Guy who (I found out later) could barely breathe dragged himself to that spot so we could see him and help him to the ER. He had peed a little on the carpet..which he never did in over 16 years but I think he was trying to hard to breathe and get to us, it just happened. Strange even though my husband washed the spot with soap and water...there are days I see it as it is on the walk way into the living room and I remember him going in and out of consciousness..which I thought was him dead at first. I know what you mean. It is such a horrible pain.
You mentioned about moving your thread..you might want to just start a new one in Death and Dying Pet Section because there seems to be so many more visitors there and you can refer to this topic being here at the start of your first post. I just think you will find your topic read more often and replied to more often because that section sadly is the "most popular" for such sad reasons. I too don't understand what your vets were doing and I would find new ones in the future. But no matter what happens I still look at things with the idea that when it is these sweet ones time to leave us....that cannot be stopped by us or by any vet. If they are given a second chance...we would find a new vet with an answer that would help but if it is not meant to be...that will not happen either. In other words, we do the best we can at the time and hope everything comes out okay but if it doesn't.....it just was not meant to be..for them to stay with us any longer. That is the cruel part of loving these precious ones but we never regret their being a part of our lives even knowing there will come a time of overwhelming grief so all we can do is treasure the days we have them with us and when they are physically gone...treasure the love and the good memories they have left with us. You mentioned putting a big picture in the room to greet you...I put my Little Guy's picture in every room I go into so I can say hello to him everywhere and look into his eyes which are glued to the camera lens...trying to see me behind it. I look quickly at his picture and smile at the thought of the picture and once in a while I touch his face and tell him I miss him but then I deliberately push away the sadness that I can't change..and the moment passes. It takes a gigantic effort but you must push those flashbacks out of your mind the moment they are coming...deliberately think of a good moment with her and if you need to look at a picture of her being happy and healthy...do that also. In time, the flashbacks will be rare because you will subconsciously block them out. "collapse" is also what my boy did and he got up and walked a few feet and collapsed again. It is a terrible memory and I get tears even talking about it but it is because I want you to know I understand what you are saying there and wanted to tell you what has helped me. I wish you peace and healing and know it all takes time for the pain not to be so overwhelming and we help the healing by talking about good memories and looking at beautiful pictures of these oh so special sweethearts.
