Today Goliath would have turned 11 years old had he lived. My memories of him are so very many. Goliath is the curve in my smile, the sparkle in my eyes, the joy in my heart and the light of my life.

When he was just a little puppy, he developed a very unusual way to walk. He pranced just like a clydesdale horse and held his head high. All his life he walked in "attention getting" style and was just a little ham for a crowd of people or a camera. He was an absolute "little dickens."

Chihuahuas often get a reputation for being mean little ankle biters. My Goliath was never anything but sweet and loving toward all of God's living creatures and he loved to visit the kitties at the pet shop or adoption center. His sweet little face and feisty personality charmed anybody who came in contact with him. Just looking at him put smiles on people's faces, young and old alike.

We shared our entire lives together including vacations, hiking, walking, bike riding, napping, parties, camping, boating and at the end of our busy days we curled up together.

At bedtime Goliath would wait for the sound of my eyeglasses to close and for me to turn off the TV. He would immediately act like he didn't really want to jump into my arms to sleep. His "cussing grrrr" would almost sound as though I was making him get into my arms. Then he would heave a big sigh, make his happy "mmmm" noises and snuggle in as close to me as he could. In my arms is where he slept all night long, and it is now when I go to bed that I find myself missing him the most.

Our special connection was beyond my wildest dreams. We understood each other completely. While others didn't always understand him, I understood him far better than I do most human beings and loved him more for it.
