I know exactly how it feels to have your soulmate ripped away from you. It will be 2 years on Friday since I said goodbye to my sweet Sasha and I still carry the pain of her absence each and every day. Pumpkin was a big, beautiful, and very lucky kitty. I know it doesn't take away the pain that you are feeling, but your Pumpkin had more love in those 5 years and 9 months than most ever do. Do you know that there is something callled 'black pet' syndrome...black pets almost never get adopted. As a matter of fact, my local shelter told me that a lot of shelters automatically put down black pets that come to them because they have so little chance for adoption and they need the room for those that are considered 'more adoptable'. Your Pumpkin beat all the odds to be with you...it was destiny. I cried rivers while I read all of your wonderful stories about your sweet Pumpkin...I thank you for sharing that with all of us. I especially liked the vivid picture you painted of the way he smelt like tuna when you took him home from falling in the kitty food! These are the wonderful memories that I hope you can continue to let flood your mind when you are missing him (which I know from experience is ALWAYS!). Remember what a wonderful life you provided for him and that the love he gave to you in return was a reflection of that.
Your memorial to him was just beautiful, and I can certainly see from those pics (especially the ones of him as a baby) how you couldn't resist him! I, too, love to share my memorial of my Sasha with others. It is like it somehow keeps her memory 'alive' when others see her and read the poem about her...does that make any sense? That is why I have mine posted as my signature at the bottom of every post. That way anyone can look at it anytime they want, and it always makes me feel so good to know people are 'thinking' about her, even if only for the short while it takes to read her poem....I still miss her so deeply I wonder if I will ever 'recover' from the loss...
