Glad to have a place to share, but sorry for the cir%%stance that brought me here. My Kira has been gone for four days. She came to me as a stray baby and has always been an inside/outside cat. We lived in the country with fields and woods for her to hunt in. Recently, we moved to town, a neighborhood. I had planned on keeping her in from then on and decided to adopt a friend for her. So we made the move with both kitties and things were going well. They bonded and played all day together. I feel very guilty now. Moving and bringing another cat into the family must have been too much. One evening, she asked to go out into the backyard. I've been so trusting of her these last five years that I walked away from her and went inside to do some laundry. We have done the flyers, put ads in the papers, contacted vets and animal control. Also, put out her food, litter box, and bedding in the hopes she could smell her way back. I cannot give up hope. My little kitten is now lost without her big sis to roll around with and pester. Hopefully, we will have a happy ending to tell.

Hi Kirasmom,
I am so sorry to hear that your baby is missing, but you have done what should be done in an effort to find her. Is it possible she found her way back to your old home?
I lost my Cosmo to kidney failure last May, but in February 1997, he had gone missing for 2 1/2 days. I did the same things you did, as well as walking the neighborhood with our dogs in hopes to leave their scent and lead him home. After getting some photos developed for more posters, I bought a blue candle for recovery. I lit it and told myself that it would stay burning until it went out, or Mo came home. Wouldn't you know it, the next morning at 5:30 a.m., the candle was burning wildly and almost gone, so for safety reasons, I blew it out. About 10 minutes later, I heard a scratch at the door, and it was Mo! I checked him over, gave him food and water, and then we both collapsed into sleep from exhaustion. ( I was tired from missing him, he was tired from being gone) He had always been an indoor cat, so it was a miracle when he returned, (if you believe in such things, as I do). Also, the weather was bad here in N.Y. in February, which made the whole thing scarier.
My recommendation is to light a candle with your hopes and feelings in mind, and see what happens. I never knew where Mo was for that time, but they sometimes get locked in someone's garage or basement, and when they get free, they RUN home. I hope this is true for you,
I sure hope things work for you as they did for me.
Peace, Love, and Prayers,
Michelle
