Hi all,
It is me again, Debby, Mom of Millie and Tinky. Millie died suddenly Sunday night and Tinky was put down Tuesday becuase of severe kidney disease. As i read the posts on this site I know that I am not alone in my pain. But it keeps haunting me that maybe something in my house poisoned my 2 little babies. They were 9 and 10, and for them both to go so suddenly and within 2 days was either a horrible coincidence as the Vet put it, or maybe they were exposed to something toxic. They were indoor cats. My friend still thinks Millie had a stroke, she was fine the night before she passed. And well Tink hadnt been to the vet in years, she hated the vet, and she was always seemingly healthy, although she was starting to look thin lately. There was no doubt she was very sick the day I put her down after seeing the Vet. I thought she was just depressed about Millie her buddy until i got the blood test results. The vet said her kidney numbers were so high he couldnt believe she was still alive. I am trying not to focus on the guilt or anything negative. Why didnt I notice Tink was sick? She slept with me every night, with Millie too. It is just so devasting because of the suddeness of it. After finding my one baby gone and then putting the other one down the next day it is almost more than I can bear. My daughter keeps asking me why this happened and all I can say is no one but God knows. Thank you everyone for all your support, I come to this site several times a day to read the posts and get some comfort. I always ending up crying but that is ok. Thanks again, Millie and Tinky's Mom Deb -------------------- Tinky and Millie forever in my heart

Deb,
I have read your other posting and I am so sorry for you loss of Millie and Tinky, especially so close together. I recently lost my cat Molly (11) to CRF. We still have her brother Ted around and I don’t even want to imagine losing him anytime soon (we are watching his health very closely now). It’s hard to say if the two deaths are somehow connected, but regarding your comment about Tink and how she seemed healthy until the day you took her to the vet…we too didn’t notice any health problems with Molly, until a couple days after she had her annual vaccinations. Then she was lethargic, drank a lot of water, etc. After reviewing her weight stats from past annual examinations, I noticed that she dropped 5 pounds in one year. I still feel guilty about not noticing that because if I had, I wouldn’t have had her vaccinated and potentially could have extended her life. CRF is difficult to notice until the kidneys have lost 70 to 75% of functionality. I am not sure if knowing this will ease your guilt, but know that you and your family gave Tink and Millie a loving and happy home during their time with you. That is the best anyone can do for their pets. Also, I am sure that if you somehow could have known about their ailments sooner that you would have done anything possible to help them. This forum is truly a great therapeutic site and hopefully the pain is easing a bit as time goes on. Take care of yourself and your new kittens. Have you named them yet? Dave |
