I knew the day would come, from the day I rushed him to the emergency room and the vet diagnosed him with congestive heart disease. Despite all the medications prescribed and given, I knew it would come.
I hated the thought of that day coming, I feared it, I refused it, in spite of all my efforts I knew it would come. I treasured each passing day with guarded expections and hopes of many to come. But that day came anyway. Two days ago I lost my friend and companion and the gift of a lifetime. My grief is passionate but private. For most he is considered only a dog, a pet that many people have, but few truly love. I pray that anyone who loved their pet as much as I loved Bo gains some comfort from my words knowing there are others who are hurting just as they are. God bless all of you who shed tears for the loss of a pet. I sat down on the floor by his side next to his pillow bed where he had died that day. Even in death I held his little paw and stroked his head and he comforted me.............. |
