I lost my baby Mack Friday night because of a careless accident. We have just moved into a new home, and an electrician came to do some work outside and left our gate open. I let Mack out as usual when I came home from work, not thinking to check. He was hit by a car. He was still warm when I found him. I can't stop thinking about if I had only turned right first instead of left, and how frightened he must have been.
He was a only a year and a half old, and the happiest Scotty you would ever know. I can't believe how much this hurts. I've had to put 2 Scotties down in the last 5 years, but they were both 14 years old, and I had time to prepare. This has hit me so hard. Susan |

Hi Susan,
I'm so sorry that you lost your little guy in such a tragic way. How old was he? I lost my border collie due to sudden acute illness in June. She had never had a sick day in her life, and I was completely unprepared for the death. I think that for those of us who have lost our pets suddenly it takes a while to get out of the shock stage. It was weeks before I could accept that she was gone. I'm glad that you found this site. -------------------- "My heart has joined the thousand, for my friend stopped running today."

Hi Susan
so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. It comes hard no matter what way we loose our furbabies, take heart that Mack is being cared for by you other two scotties at rainbow bridge. Some of us are just not meant to live very long, and the pain for those left behind is too great to bear at times. We all blaim ourselves with thoughts of what if and if only but we can only do what we can do and no matter how much we punish ourselves we are limited in our abilities. Take care Love Sue -------------------- Jude & Sadie, too well loved to be forgotten

What a sad and tragic accident to happen to your poor little Mack.
I am so very sorry that this has happened to you Susan, I think I have an inkling of how you must be feeling. It is especially meaningful for me because last Friday my little Ellie aged 15 months, was also struck by a car and died after getting out onto the front. So our stories are very similar. It is such a shock when they are so young. I was a total mess when it first happened and in complete shock. I couldn't believe my little Ellie had gone. My world had ended. How could I live without her ..... What has helped me more than anything is being able to come to this forum where I have had so much support and so many loving messages ... I truly believe that this has been the thing that has helped me the most to cope with it all. When everything becomes too overwhelming I come here and am among friends who understand because they have been through it and are going through it too. So Susan, please know that we feel your pain and your loss and we are here with you every step of the way. Sending you love jilly -------------------- ELLIE, my beautiful precious baby. 1st Sept 2003 - 3rd Dec 2004.
Rest peacefully my little sweetheart. |

Hi Susan,
Oh how tragic that you lost your little Mack due to the electrician leaving the gate open. It must have been so hard finding him and holding onto his still warm body. I am sorry the the other scotties you lost too. Come and tell us all about him often times it helps just to say what is on your mind. I know how hard it is to lose them both to quick death and one that has lingered for months. Ann -------------------- My girls went to the Rainbow Bridge 6 weeks and 3 days apart. I'm very sorry for your loss. It's really sad the way you lost Mack and the fact that he was so young seems to make it more difficult to accept. Please don't blame yourself---accidents happen and they are beyond our control. You would have never knowingly put Mack in harms way. You gave him a great life and he left this world knowing how much he was loved....that's the most important thing.
Take care, __Jim -------------------- "Daddies Little Man"

You all are so sweet. I wish I had known about this website Friday night. My husband was out of town visiting his extremely ill Mother, and I had to go thru this alone. Your kind words and thoughts, from other pet lovers especially, are extremely comforting. My husband made it home late this afternoon, so we are greiving together.
Thank you so much. |

Dear Susan,
I'm so sorry about your loss of Mack. Such a tragic ending to such a young life. You must be devastated. Please don't blame yourself...as Jim said, you didn't knowingly place Mack in harm's way. You know that you gave Mack lots of love and a happy home...for that he will be eternally grateful. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Kathleen -------------------- Shiloh and Hobbie, you're both gone from my arms, but forever in my heart.
