Thanks! I shall keep the camera close at hand! I know I can trust him to pose.
Oh, he now weighs 7.1 pounds, and has finally figured out that he no longer fits under my chin when we sleep.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN.....

what did you get Iggy for your birthday? rolleyes.gif

So, Iggy is getting big, huh? And can't fit under your chin when you sleep? You are lucky, Jon.

Lucky has to have his own bedroom because he won't sleep. He thinks nighttime is playtime.
And, it is very hard to sleep or nap when a 11 or so pound cat starts walking on you. And
if that doesn't get your attention, he looks UP to tops of things to see what he can jump up to.
He really likes to look at our big TV on top of a cabinet..that could come tumbling down if
bumped. Hard to sleep with these thoughts running through the mind instead of sugarplums. blink.gif

Hope you and your family had a special day today. Big hugs to Iggy! When's his birthday?

Iggy (Who now weighs 7.4 pounds!) was born on March 16. He was after wanting to be here for Boston's Great Vast Parade.

Iggy has now reached EIGHT POUNDS!! That is half the size of his father...Uh Oh.

To commemorate this milestone, I have found that I can play with Iggy even when he is asleep!!

(I do not know where we got this weird thing..it is a cat doll with a rather unconvincing ceramic cat's head on it. When people have been married a long time, friends and realtives run out of ideas...hahahaha.)

Thanks, Jon, for the photo. It truly made me LOL.

......just started out my day beautifully!

I have to make a serious comment in the middle of all the frivolity.

My relatives think that picture was the last straw and I have lost my mind over this little catlet.

He has done such a wonderful job of cheering me up.
I still have trouble about my catwife, Miles.
Today, Murphy, a long haired black cat came out of shadow, and without thinking, I started singing one of Miles' songs I wrote about her.
I was horrified.

THEN I came upon Iggy sleeping on a chair.

He woke up and saw I was there, and was so excited he jumped up and did this funny litttle dance he does when he sees me.
He kind of capers like a little goat, he is so excited, and his little pink nose turns red.

Then he lays on his back and waves his arms around, asking me to rub his belly. He is SO friendly and affectionate, I cannot be sad.
He is such a funny little clown, that no matter what sad thoughts I may have or what worries I have, I can only laugh.
There is so much life in that little package, and so much love in his soul.
Everyone who knows him wants to steal him.
He knows he is loved.
So much so that my sister in law wrote, "That really is over the top-I am worried about you. It sounds like you are going to form a religious cult around him".

So, though I hope these posts can bring people happiness by showing them that Life Goes On, and maybe the next cat or dog you see is a friend you have not met yet, I really do these posts because they make me smile, and forget for a few minutes who I lost in March.
I want people to see that when they read the thread about Miles, my Cat Wife, when I was suffering the despair that others who jojn us every day are feeling, there can be happiness coming someday, and because we need that happiness so much after our losses, it is especially welcome and renewing.

OH NO! HAVE I started a cult, after what I just wrote! laugh.gif
Hahahha, Mighty Iggy! Well maybe in a year when he gets too big for my lap!!!!
I just had to buy more catfood today. The other two cats are his friends and playmates, even though they are old now. because they are FINALLY playing and getting exercise, they too are eating like pigs.
And once again, it is time to change the litterboxes.
Iggy and Sam were both on the bed sleeping together. CAUGHT THEM! And remember when Sam first met Iggy? Sam was NOT PLEASED!

Iggy is better than Garfield...and look at his merchandising!

I was looking back and checking out Iggy's fast weight gain....WOW.... Is he eating at the people dinner table?

I think 8 lbs was the last one. Wow...Lucky is supposed to be almost 3 years old and he weighs 11.6 lbs..all grown up!

You might think about buying Iggy his own house to play in...maybe one of your neighbors would sell rolleyes.gif

Adorable fellow. I loved your description of how he loves to greet you...... biggrin.gif

Looking forward to seeing more of Iggy, the Star!

I never fail to smile after leaving here, Jon. Thanks again.

We have to "pay" him not to.
It amount to the same thing!! laugh.gif
On the 11th he has his date with destiny (Snip and Chip) , so as a Harem Eunuch to Sam and Murphy, will probably be gaining weight SERIOUSLY.

Snip and clip? Reminds me of my 3...born in my backyard...took them from momma (feral) when Little Guy got sick about 6 or 8 weeks old. So I had 2 boys and one girl. Read about what age is best to spay and neuter. Thought we had a little time..then the girl went into heat...okay so she got the run of the house and the 2 boys lived in the screened in back patio room until the heat was over.
Then she got spayed right away..no more heat. My kitten book said spay between 6 & 7 months of age..before the first heat. Well, I was waiting and the first heat...came first.

That left the boys. My book says:

The best time to neuter a male cat is when he is about 9 months of age; after he has become sexually mature, but before he has the time to develop bad habits. Well, once the female was done...I didn't have to rush them in...all were the same age being siblings and I don't know if siblings "understand" they are not to be attracted to each other unsure.gif

Anyway, I waited on them and they came through fine. That's my first encounter with feline neutering. I always insist and even my kitten book said...an overnight stay in the hospital. I want to know they are watched those 1st 24 hours then I feel more confident when they come home. They didn't look happy (in 1991) as I remember but there was no problem.

But it does always make me nervous when I know someone is getting anesthesia, especially with the kittens it was their first time but again....all went well and I was glad it was over.

Hugs to Iggy....he may weigh 8 lbs now but that counts all his "equipment". Let's see after the 11th wink.gif

I scrolled down and saw your picture of Sam. I don't know how your babies react to each other when getting home from the vet and that smell they apparently bring with them that other cats notice. Anyone coming home got hisses and growls to stay away for at least 2 or 3 days. So I just got some cornstarch, put it on my hands and rubbed all of their fur with it and told them ...now you all smell alike..deal with it. It worked. But they did look funny....solid black cats with white cornstarch. I knew the cornstarch wouldn't hurt them if they licked at it...as I read in a Cat Fancy magazine it was good to use to work out mats...but I found another use for it...get rid of vet hospital smell!

So you have to "pay" Iggy not to eat at the people table. What is Iggy's very favorite food to eat? I have now had 4 cats and none of them liked or likes Treats. My dogs loved Milkbones...a good training reward but these cats I have and had only eat regular food and none of it is exciting....like my dogs actually got excited about Milkbones.

What about Iggy?

Iggy is showing signs of premature development at five months, including wanting to..er..Play Leapfrog..with Sam, and showing physical signs of arousal when he rolls on his back to greet me.
I have explained to him that we are different species, and do not happen to be oriented that way, myself, but to no avail. Can't help you there, Buddy. Thanks for your interest, though.

Given that his father, King Tut SHOULD have been named "Ramses" there does seem to be a superabundance of testosterone in his family, so the vet suggested we...err...nip it in the bud, so to speak. His growth rate suggests his family simply grows up fast.

We started the cooked chicken breast "bribes" at suppertime for Miles. Her Special Trick was to jump and catch the chickie bits in her mouth, just like a dog, and she NEVER missed. Iggy uses his white-gloved hands with gaining expertise. Sam cleans up any he misses, as one of her nicknames is "Hose Nose". Murphy deigns to taste a bit, then leaves. So the cats put on dinner entertainment for us.
Miles developed the trick of jumping up and lunging at my plate. She NEVER actually touched the food! It was a bluff and a threat, "Throw me a piece of chickie or else I'll make it self-service and do a Garfield on your dinner."

Iggy has just discarded your book. Without going into details, he is indisputably sexually mature at five months.
August 11 was the date the vet set on the last visit. Maybe his growth rate was a clue.

This explains why his poor mother was pregnant as soon as the kittens left-She was supposed to be spayed immediately after this litter.
Iggy's father, King Tut, is a sex fiend.
Maybe he knew there was a "Going Out Of Business Sale" next door. laugh.gif

I was feeling a little bad about having him unbolted, but not any more.

Hey Jon, I wanted to stop by and catch up with you and Iggy and you are such a riot. Good luck with the surgery-Sasha is close to Iggy's age and the time is coming soon and I am dreading it-especially after she had that reaction to a common rabies shot. In any case, I will be thinking of Iggy on that day. Give him a good belly rub from us! Oh and Happy belated birthday!

Iggy is a riot..a real clown. I shall be concerned when he goes to the vet as well. He does love and trust me, so naturally...You know.
Anyway, to forget the worries, Iggy has begun asking us to open the faucets a little bit.

He is intrigued by water, and broke the squeaker in one of his Mousy Toys by conducting a baptism in his water bowl. We do not know why he dunked it, but he HELD IT DOWN.

He has not gotten the Water Thing figured out yet, and often gets water in his nose and sneezes.
