It was sudden and hard to talk about, but we let my 14 year old cat Pixel go to the rainbow bridge today, still not knowing exactly what was wrong. I was supposed to bring him in today for more blood tests but we were treating him as if he had pancreat*itis with small syringe feedings and SQ fluids and pepcid. He was appearing to improve a bit last night. However, late last night/early AM I noticed ascites and slightly labored breathing, and by this morning he was too weak to stand and didn't respond to his name. He was just permanently 'blank'. We rushed him to the vet asap, but by the time we got there he was just this side of comatose, eyes open on his side and very unresponsive. We made the decision to let him go.

Since I first learned of Pixel's decline in health you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Your decision to let him go was one made out of love. Sometimes we have to do what is hardest for us to do even when it hurts us so much. If we really had a choice, none of us would ever part with our babies. But, sometimes we are faced to make difficult decisions that are in the best interest for them as well as ourselves.
May you find comfort in knowing that your Pixel is resting in God's hands as you keep Pixel alive and well in your heart. Much love and warm hugs is what I send to you this day. Keep coming back and sharing with us. It is in the exchange of our replies to each other that helps us find a way to heal together. -------------------- Topics that include Goliath are:

I am sorry to hear about Pixel. I understand about rushing to the vet...I did that with Little Guy. You go and hope the vet can turn things around and tell you it will be okay but I have not had that experience..it must be rare.
You did everything you could for this sweetheart. I did go see his memorial and his beautiful picture. I am glad for his 14 years...that is a wonderful tribute to his care. It is up to time to make the sad memories fade and we help by replacing them with all the good memories that mean to very much to us. We look at pictures of happy and healthy times and can smile knowing in that picture they were content and so were we. We can sometimes tell stories showing their personalities..the memory of which can make us smile. It is difficult to lose more than one so close together and yet know that you are not alone in this...there are others here who have lost more than 1 in a very short time. The saying that comes to mind here was said by one "mom" in this forum..to the effect that: The pain of losing him will never ever be bigger than the joy of knowing him. I think of that many times when I think of my 3 who are gone. Come again and post as you feel like it. Sometimes writing gets the grief out when it tries to overwhelm us. Find some pictures of your babies to post and tell us about them. Pictures can bring a smile out of us even when we didn't think we would smile for a long time. Knowing you are not alone in grieving for a special baby also helps. It shows the people here know and understand exactly what you are going through because it is like looking in a mirror. So as we share the pain so can we try to share thoughts and ideas that have helped us, hoping they help others. Giant hugs to you and our wishes for the sad memories to pass quickly. I know it was hard to post at this time but we appreciate your letting us know about Pixel and making us feel part of his family as we feel you and yours are part of ours. ![]() -------------------- LITTLE GUY - May 28, 1991 - Sept 10, 2007 - Always in my Heart.
