I feel very sad today as my chocolate lab Lucy would have been six years old today. She passed away on February 4th after a brave struggle with lymphoma. We still miss her so much and light a candle for her every Friday night (the night of the week she passed). In some ways, it seems like a lifetime ago that we were nursing her through her last days. In other ways, it seems like it was just yesterday. I am afraid I will forget the way she looked at me, the way she smelled, the way she was. I know I will never forget her, but I want her to know that she will never be forgotten.
Life just isn't the same without Lucy Lou. She was such a special girl. I guess I am done asking why this happened to her, to us. Now I think I am just grateful that we had her in our lives at all. Her collar and ashes still sit on our buffet table. I am not near ready to take them down. I still find great comfort in looking up and seeing her belongings. This website has provided me with much comfort through the grieving stages. Although I don't write or post as much as I used to, I still read it almost every day. The people here got me through some very dark days, and through my own experience with Lucy, I hope to extend that comfort to others who are starting on their own sad journey. Thanks for listening...I just wanted to take a minute to remember my Lucy on her special day, and to once again thank all of you for your support... Caroline |

Dear Caroline, I am thinking of you and your sweet Lucy on this her 6th Birthday. I know how sad I was when Snookie had her 11th birthday shortly after she left this world.
Don't worry you will never forget your darling girl and she knows that you never will. I think we are all afraid we will forget the smell of them, the sound of their bark and things like that. Happy Birthday Lucy please share a piece of your cake with my girls. Love, Ann -------------------- My girls went to the Rainbow Bridge 6 weeks and 3 days apart. Snookie had cushing's disease, and later developed diabetes. Both had cancer, Snookie had cancer of the liver, and Chili Bean had cancer of the pallet. Chili Bean was our son's chihuahua but we kept her often throughout her life and she stayed with us for the last 9 months of her life. Chili Bean also had asthma and heart failure. We will see you in Heaven my precious darlings. Snookie Lynn Howard 2-04-94 - 12-26-04 Senorita Chili Bean Bubbles Howard 11-05-94 - 11-11-04 |

Ollie will not be forgotten by Paulina and I. We are still grieving for precious Ollie. Our lives are very hard still especially for my wife who spent a lot of time with him. He is buried near a boulder and a young cedar tree in our back yard; we are planning on moving and are unsure about leaving him at this place. This was the home and yard he new for most of his life. It is still very hard to have any joy for the future. The time we had with him may be all there will be. Prunella the female Chihuahua seems reserved without Ollie around. When I die, I want to be where Ollie is, I want all the loved ones together. Life seems so cruel. It makes you wonder. I talked to my brother today and told him about Ollie,s passing and he told me I should get over it.I could not help but to love Ollie, I thought of getting a tatoo with Ollie's name on myself. I guess grieving is a way of honouring your pet. Paulina is crying at this moment.

Tory, I'm sorry you're having a hard day.
I hate it when people dont' understand our pain. I'm sorry he said that to you. Listen to your heart and you'll know the right thing to do regarding moving his body. It sounds like a lovely burial place for him. I suppose it depends on how you would feel if you moved and did leave him behind. I"m thinking you'd feel guilty and miss him more. That's just my opinion. I can relate to the yard, etc where they loved to run and play. I'm not a homeowner so I've lived in a few places with my dogs. One place we were at for almost 5 yrs and Jasmine loved it. We had to move and now 2 yrs later, we're back in the same neighborhood, only a few houses down from it. Seeing the old yard gives me good memories. We've only been at this new place since last Sept. but Jasmine loved running behind the row of evergreen trees. The yard isn't that big so I think she felt like she was hiding in the woods. LOL And the woods where we hiked for years and down the street so that was another reason she loved coming back to this area. I'm sad that the next time I bring her in there will be to spread her ashes. But I'm sure glad that I'll have a part of her in the urn to take with me wherever I move to. Sorry, I'm rambling now but I like I said, listen to yourself and you'll know the answer. Caroline, I hope you're doing better. -------------------- "He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
