Scarlet is now back in her home with her mom and dad and the familiar sights, sounds, and smells she much prefers to being here. Even as my brother and sister in law were getting Scarlet in their car precious Buster was already eagerly making his way inside the condo and hasn't wanted me far from his sight since he arrived. He is such a precious sweet little boy. I have done most of the clean up and put away her toys, but will wait to run the vacuum cleaner until after Buster leaves later on. Tomorrow I have my infusion appointment so don't know if I'll feel up to being online tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know so that you wouldn't be concerned.

Well, we talked some more a little while ago. Anne realizes now something she hadn't thought about: the distance to Teleperformance and the wear and tear on her car after having to get financing to get the repairs. So we are not doing that, but will keep our eyes open for call center jobs that are more tech and less straight CS/billing. No health care for sure (especially Medicare which Teleperformance would have been) In the mean time, she looked and saw that her pay is about the same as mine (well, .35 less) for not doing deli. So that's good.

We went to the zoo today, but the puma and lynx were not out and the leopards were a tad lethargic. But it was still a fun time and no money spent since I already renewed the passes and it's not far from where we live.

Tang seems to be doing OK. He's had his dinner and shot and will get his treats later. I'm waiting for this pop up storm to move out of here before provisioning the local waifs though.

Second day of orientation was a couple more videos then some CBT training modules. We stayed until 6:00 as we were told we could to do that. We can finish the rest over the next 2 days at no more than 4 hours each day at what ever times we like. Then Sunday will be a full day of cashier training.

Came home to Tang patiently waiting on us. He's had his supper and I will give him his shot and treats in a little while. He seems to be doing well.

I hope yesterday was decent for Anne in her training. So will you be working the checkout lines? I admire the both of you in your efforts to transition into a entirely different work environment. I was able to resume my walking this morning. Round trip was 1.670 miles. I got up the incline where the Baptist church is but didn't feel like attempting the downside, so I crossed the street and did a loop around the church's parking lot which has an exit on the level end of the road. I crossed the street at this point for my return back to the condo. Took me 70 minutes to make the entire round trip. Shortly after I got back Buster came to visit and is taking his nap on my bed as I'm writing to you. Worked on some emails. The library homebound volunteer came to pick up the books I finished and brought me 3 more books. I really like this arrangement with the library.

The the training was OK yesterday. We got to about 3.5 hours today on the self modules and realized it was about the 1/2 way mark to complete the CBTs, so we will do the rest tomorrow before having a full day of guided training Sunday. I assume we will start on the regular lanes progressing to self check monitor and finally CS counter. The store director hinted at pathing me to service coordinator in the initial interview. We'll see. I'd love the cash office gig he mentioned during the interview at some point. I did that at Marshall's in the 80s and loved it.

Tang met us at the door when we got home and seems to be doing well. He's had his supper and shot and I will give him his treats later on as well as provisioning the local waifs.

The actual Derby race is getting later each year which is becoming annoying.

Well, looks like this job isn't going to work after all (sigh) In the course of going over our CBTs today, we were able to see our schedules for next week. I have 28.5 hours and Anne has 29.5 Anne's theory (from having worked at Kroger in the 90s) is they do that to keep you from qualifying for FT and joining the union. That and the PT premiums for the basic health plan is 132.00 per week Can't afford that. I give Anne credit for finding good jobs online though. So I guess that's where we are again. At least the income will be more than we'd have gotten for UE and her's was denied anyway.

Tang is doing well though. He's had his supper and will get his shots and treats later. Currently he's sitting in the living room window enjoying the cool air. After that I'll put the food for the local waifs.

So cashier training was OK I guess. The trainer read from the manual in the training room for a good portion of the day in the training room. Then we went and picked out some items for "practice". This consisted of putting real lanes into training mode and 2 groups of 3 taking turns. Then they actually just through us onto real lanes to ring up real customers. Not as scary as I thought, but give it time I guess Next week we have even fewer hours. The trainer said it's easy to pick up more hours but you have to sign up. Right now about the only the thing the same for our schedules is the days worked and next week even that's not entirely true. So we are diligently looking for other work on the weekdays we have off.

Tang met us at the door when we got home as usual. He seems to be doing OK and has had his dinner and shot. I'll give him his treats later as well as provisioning the local waifs.

My car is now at the service shop and I have a Chevrolet Equinox for a loaner. It's a nice car. Tomorrow my friend who used to be my volunteer is coming for a visit and we'll be planting some flowers in a couple of planters I have. Precious Buster came by this morning for a brief visit - - he left shortly before I needed to leave to take my car in for service, and then he returned shortly after I got back with the rental car. He's taking a nap on my bed as I'm writing to you.

Today we applied online to 2 jobs that Anne found and 1 that I did. Mine I almost missed from an indeed.com email suggestion. Heartland/Global payment systems is hiring again for jobs similar to what we did at Vantiv before that call center shut down in 2017. We both got emails to fill out a screening for further consideration which is hopeful I guess.

Tang seems to be doing well and has had his supper. I'm about to give him his shot and later on his treats. Then it will be about time to provision the local waifs. All 3 of my regulars (Dulcinea, Tweak and Butters) made multiple appearances last night. They even stop running and look at me now when I tell them it's OK, just another round of food.

My friend needed to come earlier today than originally expected but it all worked out okay. During the second visit he settled down on my bed and took a nice nap - - until the yard crew arrived with their noisy mowers and blowers and scared the heck out of him. He left to find a quieter place to resume his sweet dreams. Bonnie came by for a very brief visit - - she's a sweetheart. I also was able to get my car back today - - much to my surprise. It apparently passed inspection and no extraordinary oil leaks were detected. So we'll see how it does over this next year.

After that we decided to get the sub of the day from Subway along with some water and snack size chips from our work lunch cache and took Tang to McNeely lake park again. He didn't want any of he chicken we offered, but seemed comfortable on the towel on the ground we put down for him. After eating we took him exploring. They cut down his favorite tree though But otherwise he seemed to enjoy himself.

This morning we took an assessment for one of the jobs we applied for yesterday. It was supposed to pop up in another window at the time of the application, but neither of us could get that to work. It showed up in our emails this morning. So were able to complete that application. I hope we get a bite soon because between Meijer shorting our pay this week (didn't get the manual entries in on time) and our messed up schedules, it needs to come soon.

After that I packed a lunch and we went to the zoo (since it's paid for and the next best thing to "free" right now) All the big cats were out but not all that active. Except for the Siberian tiger, be's always pacing. It was the same with most of the other animals; must have been nap time.

Tang seems to be doing well (even briefly got on my chest a while ago) I'm about to give him his supper and shot and then later his treats as well as provisions for the local waifs.

I got a good report yesterday with my eye exam including not having to change my prescription lenses. He told me that both the rheumatoid arthritis and the meds I'm on will dry out my tears so he gave me some eye drops to try and if they work okay for me then I can purchase them over the counter. Also the cataracts have not shown any sign of "maturing" so no surgery is needed in the near future. But I will need to have annual eye exams now, and that's okay.

Today has been busy with errands. I went to Peebles here in Town - - which is an apparel type store - - and was able to find a nice pair of walking sneakers. They are sooo comfortable and I think will do better for my walks than my regular shoes. I spent over an hour in the store searching the sneaker aisles and trying on various types. The ones I purchased were the last pair I tried on. So now I know what size to order online as I want to get a second pair eventually. After I got back and checked my email there was a notice letting me know my WalMart order was ready for pick up so I went over to pick it up. So now I'm home for the rest of the day. Got a call from Abigail's mom yesterday evening letting me know that their overnight trip isn't until next Thursday, 5/16, so that is very helpful as this week has been busy activity-wise and I am feeling a bit on the weary side. Haven't seen Buster or Bonnie yet today but hope to see them at some point out and about later today.

Was able to take a walk this morning and got down to the Catholic Church - - a new distance goal. The new shoes felt better walking, and have been wearing them all day long. When I got back sweet Buster had come in as I had left the garage side entry door open in case he was out and about and wanted to come visit. That was a special treat to find him waiting for me when I got back. He got up onto the seat cushion in the chair at the big computer desk and took a very long nap. He left about 15 minutes ago to go home. After I got back I worked a little bit on financials and started reading a new book from the library.

So, now Computershare wants us to to do an assessment and Anne's all a twitter about that. (i.e $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) I looked into them. They're an Aussie stock selling/trading company with a fairly narrow list of clients. The fact they're willing to give us a chance with no experience is a huge red flag in my book. But I don't get a say given my track record. So either we'll get it and I'll stress to the point of a bleeding ulcer, or we'll mess around putting off Remx and get neither.

Tang, however, is doing well. He's had his supper, shot and treats and is chilling in the living room. I don't know who got the first round of waif wet food, But Dulcie got the second

I must confess just from my own experience job hunting during my employment years it seemed then to be a crap shoot about job selection. And I NEVER - - honestly and truthfully - - had more than one prospective employer consider me when I was looking for another job. So I usually ended up having to accept the only prospective employer who offered me a job. And once I got into my 50's job opportunities were never extended to me - - and I never received any acknowledgement from the HR department about even having received my application. So I'm very happy you and Anne receive responses to your job queries. Pursuing two, or more, job opportunities at the same time is a very wise course of action. Please let us know how things go.

Not much happening around the condo complex today. Haven't seen Bonnie or Buster yet today but they may be tucked warm and dry in their home. Have my lunch cooking as I'm writing to you.

Well, at least I was able to get Anne to agree that if Remx makes us an offer before Computershare we should take it; that's something I guess. Today was my last "full" day for a week at least, Anne's is tomorrow. Of course that means I have to walk about a mile to get a bus and about another to get home from where it drops me off tomorrow Hopefully by the end of next week it will all be moot anyway.

Tang met us at the door when we got it and he's had his supper, shot and treats and is doing well. The waifs have been fed too. Butters got the first round of wet food. I didn't see who got the second, but it's gone too.

Yeah I have a couple decent pairs of shoes I got from Walmart for a good price. From my time walking to and from the bus, I figure about 2.5 miles. Shades of Saturdays at Vantiv before I got M-F.

Tang met me at the door but was not pleased "mommy" wasn't with me. He rubbed on me for a while then dashed upstairs and meowed his head off. He's better now that she's home and has had his supper, shot and treats.

I just had to work 12-4 today while Anne was off which was just as well as she wasn't feeling well. She says she's better now. After she picked me up from work, we went to a PNC ATM so I could deposit the check for the Firstsource 401K I never asked to be enrolled to in the first place. Just 77.00, but every little bit helps. Then we did a little grocery shopping. I made a big batch of my tuna salad with egg which should last quite a while. (the secret is lemon juice as a natural preservative)

Tang was eager to see his daddy upon our arrival home He's had his supper, shot and treats and seems to be doing well.

Buster's and Bonnie's mom and dad are visiting with their eldest daughter this afternoon. Their mom came over to Abigail's place before they left to let me know that all of their furkids are safe inside and will be okay until they get back around 4 p.m. or sometime thereafter.

So, here's what happened. We went to the RemX offices yesterday as we were instructed. I went in first and two ladies started an interview. Another lady pops her head in and the one lady goes out with her. She comes back in and says you and Anne aren't here for interviews, you just here for paperwork (I9, pay cards for direct deposit, etc.) i.e you got the jobs wait to hear from your recruiter about orientation. So after we did that I called the lady who initially called us. She freaked out saying we were supposed to be there to interview. So back in we went and talked to the lady who was doing the placements and she said, nope you got the jobs. Pick a location. So we picked the one that's literally 1/2 a mile away (I can walk that in 10 minutes) Today I get a call from the first lady from the original phone assessment saying that location requires an onsite face to face with the client manager. So over there we go tomorrow at 11 and 11:30 respectively. Bottom line is I'm worried we may not get the jobs now because this lady couldn't do her job right With the first of the month coming up, we really need this

Tang is well as I spent the day with him as I was off and Anne worked (reverse of that tomorrow) He's had his supper, shot and treats. I also put the waif food out, but haven't seen any of them yet.

This morning's "storm" turned out to be a quick rain shower with a couple of very distant thunder rumbles, and she did okay - - perhaps because she had someone with her. I stayed with her until about 12:30 p.m. or thereabouts, as Buster was longingly wanting to visit with me. So Buster and I came to my unit - - and he is now on my bed taking a nap. I'll go back over to be with Abigail after I have my lunch and the mail has come. Perhaps by then her mom and dad will be home. I saw beautiful Bonnie out and about while I was with Abigail, and Bonnie looked like she was enjoying herself in the warm sunbeams and gentle breezes.

So, the interviews went pretty well (I walked home from mine in 10 minutes as predicted - Anne's was after mine) I got my confirmation email at 1:10 and Anne got hers at 4:20 (she texted me at work) She was getting worried too. But we both have jobs there in different departments but the same schedule 11:30-8:00 M-F. Just waiting on the details for the start date. We can breath a little easier now. Worst case, we have to work one more week at Meijer (blech)

CONGRATULATIONS to you and Anne on your new jobs at Remx!!! I know this is a HUGE relief off your minds, and how fantastic that you have the same work schedule (M - F, weekends off - - YEA!!), although different departments. That won't be too bad as you'll have things to share with one another as to how your days went when you get home - - or on your way home. And how nice that you'll be able to walk to work - - if you want to - - save wear and tear on Anne's car, gasoline, maintenance, etc.. Of course since you get off work at 8 p.m. walking home might be another story altogether - - perhaps not such a good idea? I'm sooo excited for both of you. Worked a bit on financials this morning and will need to reconcile the bank statement with the checkbook at some point in time. I checked on when the next charge would be on my credit card for my cellphone and found a notice informing that my cellphone will become "extinct" come the end of the year because of upgrades that are being done with the technology service. Which means that I had to break down and buy the new tablet-type phones - - which I absolutely detest. So I have a new phone coming shortly and will have to deal with the activation process and then putting in all my contacts into the new phone. I am NOT a happy camper about this development, but I guess it was inevitable. When I finished that task I took a walk up to the hospital and back to clear the aggravation. Not as long a walk distance-wise but there wasn't any shade along the street and the humidity had already begun to take effect. But still it was nice to have a walk. After I got back precious Buster came to visit and is taking a nap on my bed as I'm writing to you. He is sooooo precious.

Hopefully today was the last time I have to get home like I did last Sunday when Anne worked til 8:00 and I was off at 6:00. Walked a mile to the bus stop then another 1.5 home from where it dropped me off.

Tang was pleased to see me when I finally got home, but confused that I was alone. When Anne got home he ignored me trying to give him his treats and shot upstairs behind her He seems to be doing well. I put food out for the local waifs but haven't seen any yet.

Not much going on here today. We went to feed the waifs at the old place which didn't go so well. There were too many people out and one guy walking his dog on the jogging path who just would NOT move on (have to stop and smoke and give the poor dog cancer after all) So I wasn't able to put a portion down at the 2nd spot along the fence and had to put that with the pool area portion. I didn't see any of them anyway

Then we went to get some groceries and gas and came home for some brunch and TV and a nap. Tang is doing well and has had his supper and shot. I will give him his treats and set out food for the local waifs after while.

Today has been focused on financials. Got the checkbook balanced with the bank statement, and bill payments entered into the checkbook for the upcoming bill-a-thon. This has taken most of the day. Now all I need to do is to begin scheduling online payments and get checks written for those payments I can't make online. Buster has been here on 3 separate visits today. He is with me now and has finally settled down on my bed to take a nap. Beautiful Bonnie came by to say hello but didn't stay long.

I hope the background checks will be completed smoothly and quickly so that you and Anne can begin your new jobs at Remx sooner. I know you both will be glad when you can leave your current jobs for the last time. I'm sure Tang appreciated his dedicated "dad" time yesterday, and was equally glad when Anne arrived home safe and sound.

Worked on scheduling online payments today for the bill-a-thon, and got checks written to take to the post office tomorrow. Also got the checks written for the taxes and will be taking those payments personally to the Town and County administrative offices tomorrow as well. Just have a couple more bills to pay whenever I get the invoices for them. Got an email notice that my new cell phone shipped today so should be getting that in the next few days. Not looking forward to the hassle of getting it activated and my contacts put in. Buster came by this morning to say hello but he didn't stay long. Have also seen beautiful Bonnie out and about but she hasn't come by for a visit yet today. They both look like they're doing well.

Got my errands done today - - needed to go to the Town and County admin offices to pay the first half real estate taxes due, then to the post office to mail bills, and then to Food Lion to pick up some deli-type things for the now much warmer temps when I don't feel like cooking. Got my lap top security programs up to date when I got back to the condo. Haven't seen Bonnie or Buster yet today but may see them later.

Have a question for you and Anne: How "safe" will it be for me to continue to run W7 Home Premium after Microsoft discontinues its security updates next year? I really don't want to upgrade to W10. For starters, by Microsoft's own admission it is more prone to hacking even with all the security patches. In addition, I would have to replace all of my software programs - - which I had to do when I upgraded to W7 5 or 6 years ago which was very expensive even though I was still working at the time. And in 5 years Microsoft will discontinue security updates on W10. I had read an article that Microsoft has also considered getting out of the software platform business altogether - - so what happens when W10 service expires? Since I have a full-range internet security program which includes a firewall - - would this be enough to ward off the potential hazards of a hacker for me to continue using W7? Microsoft highly discourages updating existing computers to W10, and I'm not sure that my aging systems could function on W10 - - I cannot afford a new computer. Any suggestions, recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Hello moon_beam. Cloudy and warm (78) greetings to you. I hope this finds you doing well. I hope Buster or Bonnie have visited at some point today and I hope they are both doing OK. Honestly I have been running 7 on my desk top for about the last 2 years with the security updates turned off. As long as you have a decent security/firewall program you should be fine. My PC is about 10 years old and aside from being a little slow at times it's been fine with 7.

So today was our orientation at RemX (albeit brief and required Anne to call in sick to Meijer to be there) I spoke with the recruiter via phone before leaving and she's working on our start date at MCKesson. Hopefully this week, next week at the latest. So we're not sure how many more days we will have to work at Meijer. But if the start date is early next week we are not doing Saturday as it's a full 8 hour day and I don't think either of us can handle another one of those.

Thank you so much for sharing with us that you and Anne have had your orientation at Remx. I guess I'm a bit confused: Is Remx the employer or McKesson? But as long as you and Anne know that's all that counts!!! I'm sooo hoping that your start date is very soon. Please let us know how things go.

Thank you also for sharing your information about your computer. I use the full AVG Internet Security which has a firewall program. I haven't used the firewall program because I've been using the Windows firewall - - but will definitely install the AVG firewall this fall when I renew the subscription. In years past I had used Norton but that got a bit expensive and AVG was highly recommended. I would be interested in knowing your and Anne's ideas on this. As you know I use my computer for online financials, but all my passwords are on the individual institutions' websites - - I don't save passwords on my computers. All the hacks that have happened have been on the financial institutions' websites, which gives me free identity theft protection because of the hack attacks.

Got my new replacement phone today so have it going through the activation process. I have ordered a stylus and carrying case for it - - my fingers and hands just don't work well with screen touch. Also got my shred box emptied. Buster came for a visit and took a short nap on my bed for awhile. He left a little while ago to go home. He is such a sweet boy.

RemX is the agency and the client (where we will actually work) is McKesson formerly RX Crossroads. Speaking of which, we both had to completely retake the assessments because they "didn't have a record" of our completion. When we opened it up, we saw why. The Excell part was way shorter than the other one and it had an additional data entry module the other one didn't have. They sent us the wrong assessment! But we did it (I had had to call in today to make that happen in a timely manner) As far as we know, we start Monday. Last email I got from the recruiter stated she was in a conference call with the Louisville team and would give us the details as they are available That was at 4:03. So far, nothing.

Well Anne is cleared to start Tuesday after the holiday. Because "they couldn't track down my future manager" for the approval, I'll have to wait until Wednesday Either way, after tomorrow (a full day unfortunately) we are DONE at Meijer. We'll turn in our badges and won't look back. At least we are done there for today.

Worked a bit on financials today and got my big computer desk straightened up so that I can actually see the top of the desk again. Since my computer space is in the main living area where everyone who comes into the condo can see it I try to keep it as neat as I possibly can. Also did a bit more "customizing" on my new cell phone and deleted my old phone from my Net10 account. Buster has come by for a visit and is stretched out very comfortably on my bed taking a nap. I have the ceiling fan on the low / slow speed to keep the bedroom comfortable for him.

Today has been quiet here. Got caught up on a couple of emails. Last night we had a brief but potent thunderstorm come through town which flicked off the electricity for a few seconds which required the clocks needing to be reset. I reset the one in the bedroom and reset the rest of the clocks this morning. A few minutes ago there was another power blip which required all the clocks to be reset again. I hope that's the last of that exercise for today. Sweet Buster came buy for a visit today. He took a nice nap on my bed for awhile. He left to go home about 45 minutes ago.
