Lordie, what have I done?

Today, I was pulling into a convenience store when a close friend pulled in beside me and called out, "Hey, you want an exotic cat for free?"

"No," I said, "Not right now..."

Well, the rest is history. I now have a 12-week old Bengal kitten in my house, wreaking havoc and charming me totally. A KITTEN? And one with a very unusual personality? Are there any other Bengal owners out there?

This is what boredom drove me to, I guess, but I also saw it as a sign. I have had a lot of cats in my lifetime, so having one is not a new thing for me--but a cat who who talks all the time, likes to take baths and walks and play fetch, and is going to demand non-stop attention, except when sleeping...may be just what I've been needing.

Was I crazy to say "yes?"

Hugs and yowls--Margi, Spiritwolf, and "Mr. Micester" (just for today, the name)

Thanks for listening to me bitch, everyone. I am slowly recovering from having my teeth removed with vise-grips, a winch, and a hacksaw, by the Marquis de Sade...

Leopold is about twice the size he was when I got him a month ago. He is on his way to becoming as large as Janika's Trixie, who is, as we all know, the size of a two-car garage. Leopold is just finishing up his PhD from Dominatrix University, and I am wondering what I have done to deserve so much torture in my life...?

Seriously, folks...I AM serious! Leopold is the boldest, most Alpha kitty I have ever met. He is already running the 'hood, and is starting to recruit new members from downtown Tucson. They all have to get tatooes of Leopold on their chests before they are accepted into the gang, which includes pit bulls, lions, grizzly bears, and sharks. The only time he is really CUTE is in the morning. He actually allows me to sleep in a bit now before he starts his morning calisthenics and target-shooting practice.

Leopold makes my Ladywolf seem to have been a 'wuss...

As for me, I'm doing better since Rosie landed in the mental hospital and is in residence there for awhile now, and out of the 'hood. I feel sorry for her, but not so sorry that I miss her presence in the house next door. My depression has calmed down, along with the sound level.

I'm soon to be working again, thank God--have a new writing job, as well as some teaching coming up soon (I'll be teaching Tutoring, Creative Writing, and French for the local Community College. Maybe Difficult Cat Management too, if I can ever get a handle on it!) If I were to have to go another week without working, I would surely go mad...

Thanks for everyone's support through my darker (and brighter) hours. I am one of the moodiest people on this Forum, so don't take me too seriously, okay? Truly, I thank you for your support--it really helps a lot.

My best to everyone--

Margi, Spiritwolf, and Leopold, The Boss

Margi,

That's GREAT news. So pleased to hear that you have some working coming up. Let's hope thing are finally looking up for you, hey?

Leopold really does sound like he's...um...coming along. Haha. You certainly have your work cut out for you there. biggrin.gif

Big hugs, Cheryl x

Hi, Margi, just checking in with you. I sent you an e-mail a few days ago, 8/11, and got a message back today that it was "undeliverable" by either my ISP or your ISP - - couldn't tell which. I forwarded the "rejected mail" notice to you, and hope that you got it so that you could see what it said, if nothing else. Just wanted you to know you are not forgotten - - just that the "mail" was returned for some stupid technical reason.

I'm so glad that you have work now, and that the community college opportunity seems to be coming along. I sure do hope that the next round with the butcher dentist goes better for you. Couldn't he at least give you novacaine or something to help with the pain?

I know Leopold is doing his best to keep everyone in line there in the neighborhood - - and is letting everyone know who his mom is - - and that they better not mess with you - - or else. I hope that cool breezes and gentle rains will come to soothe your tired and dusty spirit, and I hope that you and Leopold will be blessed with Spiritwolf's sweet presence at all times and in all circumstances. And please know that you and Leopold are frequently in my thoughts and prayers every day.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam

Hi Moon_Beam--

Thanks,as always, for your loving support.

I don't mean to be too sarcastic about Leopold--he's really a darling kitty. He just takes more investment of time and energy than I am used to in a pet, and he IS the boldest little critter I have ever met. Yes, he is learning to take care of his mom, who needs a lot of maintenance too!! This morning, he went completely wild when someone pulled into one of the parking places in front of my house. All the other stuff, plus, he's a watchcat too!!

After spending most of last night in the ER waiting to be treated for dental pain, almost a week after the extractions, I've decided that the Marquis de Sade, D.D.S., and I are coming to a parting of the ways. The ER doc admitted that it looked like the pain was coming from tissue abrasion and damage, not from infection. She said that the amount of inflammation I have is indeed rather unusual for "simple" extractions (though the extraction of a broken tooth is never really "simple,"), and suggested that I see my doctor for guidance as to what to do next, since I am never going to let the Marquis put his fingers in my mouth again! Even a shot of morphine didn't really take care of the pain...

But I'll be okay. I'm a brave girl, and I have an attack-kitty to defend me. Maybe I'll take Leo with me to whatever dental office I end up visiting next!!

Thanks for your kind thoughts and good wishes...

Hugs from Margi, Spiritwolf, and Leopold the Viking Cat

Margi

I'm so sorry you are having so much pain and difficulty from your teeth. I do know how difficult that is. But I enjoy your stories about Leopold so much. What is that saying about dogs having owners and cats having "staff." He does sound like he has you almost trained-lol. But seriously he would defend you if he thought he had to but he certainly has his territory staked out and all the residents in line. I am so glad he is bringing you so much joy and is letting you sleep-sounds like he is really settling in. I'm glad you have some jobs lined up and starting soon. I hope things really start to get much easier for you.
