Ive done online reaseach, and talked to our vet, so I know that iam most likly over reacting, but my cat Hazy is sneezing alot and i am having a hard keeping calm. She is only sneezing, no wheezing, or running eyes, no running nose,or other symptoms. She is eating fine, and drinking plenty, her eyes are bright and clear, and is showing no fatigue or tiredness, other than the sneezing she seems fine, but i am still scared.
Ever since we lost cheddar I have had a very hard time when the cats do anything out of the ordinary. every tiny thing has become a huge thing that if I don't take it serously, or notice the smallest change I will lose my other babies. When we lost Cheddar there was absolutly no way of knowing, he had no symptoms, and the Doctor told me that there was no way we could have known, but i still can't really belive that.
To make the issue even more complicated, Hazy wigs out when she has to leave our apatment. She is not good with people and leaving the apartment causes her great distress. She get so worked up she vomits, and shakes, and just can't handle it. Every time I have to take her in the vet says she fine, but that the stress is really hard on her. I have tried slowly getting her used to the carrier, I leave it out, and let her investigate it, I even have closed her in it for small amounts of time, while sitting next to her and talking and comforting her and giving her treats, I can walk around the apartment carrying her in the carrier, but the second I go outside, it starts. Ive tried covering the carrier so she cant see and that is no good. I am just worried and freaked out.
Now that is almost 11pm, and my husband is in bed, and I am up all alone, unable to sleep again, it worse. I always have problems this tinme at night. We lost cheddar at 11:10 pm. I have panick attacks, and flashbacks form the event. Now I am sitting here listning to my sweet little Hazy sneezing, and I am scared. It is gonna be very long night.
thanks for listning,
even to such a small thing,

Cheesy

Hi Cheesy, sorry you are having such a hard time, guess it's a combination of both, the grief that still overwhelms you and it certainly does challenge our sense of security doesn't it. I can certainly relate to the insomnia, it took me a long long time to get back to being able to sleep soundly after I lost my furry babies, I'm still a bit off, over a year later but the quality of sleep is slowly coming back...I think blink.gif
I have never heard of sneezing as being a symptom of anything serious, like you said all the other functions are normal so lets keep our fingers crossed and just ride it through for now, anything new in the apartment that would make her sneeze?
Do you have a rocking chair? Take your little Hazy on your lap and rock away, it will soothe you, if you don't have one you can always just rock on a stationary chair, that's how I soothed my anxieties at one point, hope it helps, otherwise, only time will help, I know how traumatizing these losses can be and we can only apply patience to it all. Take care, hope all is getting a little bit better all the time. HUgs.

There are no small things where we have concerns of our furry kids. Sneezing can come from many reasons from dust to allergies to a new scent in the house. People do the same thing all the time.

I completely understand why you are feeling extra protective of Hazy right now. Your loss of Cheddar hasn't been that long. I do the same thing with my Gidget since my Goliath passed away. The thought of losing another furry kid horrifies me and I cannot endure another tragedy because it would push me right over the edge.

Perhaps some of this stems from Hazy losing Cheddar as well (just a thought)

Please keep me posted on how it is going with Hazy. I have a good feeling that all is well with her and she will be just fine.

Bring your worries as well as your joys here anytime.........I am always a great listener and will support you in your times of need. My shoulder is always available for you and all others to lean on.

Love & hugs smile.gif

Thank you so much golith and Toonie, your support has really made me feel alot better. Big hugs for you both.
Hazy is still sneezing, still no new symptoms, we havnt changed anything in the house, so I don't think it's a new alergy or anything. maby she is getting sensitve to somthing old, ill have to keep an eye on it. It has been really cold here the last week, and our heat has been cranked up, so I am gonna try upping the humidity in here. She has a her favorite blanket, and we are givinmg here as much love, and treats as she wanrs, though the love usally ends up with us being sneezed on. smile.gif She got my huband right in the face, it was funny. He has been really great through this, since i have started sharing with him my issues he has really been there for me.
I will keep you posted on hazy, thanks again for being there.
Hugs, wub.gif smile.gif

I'm glad you are sharing with your husband your concerns...it is so helpful not to feel alone when we are worried about something.

You could try looking up on Google.... cat sneezing... and see the different things it says. You said you spoke to your vet and if the vet is not concerned...that should help.

If there were other symptoms..like runny nose, eyes, etc., it could be like a "cold" but sneezing alone...I would try Google. there are lots of stories out there and there could be one with just your symptom.

Can you isolate when it occurs? Like in a certain room, at a certain time, around certain furniture or material? Anyone wearing perfume or cologne? When she is excited?

I know what you mean when you worry about your baby even if you get reassured by the vet....you just want her to not have to sneeze at whatever...you really have a puzzle to figure out so just about anything could be a clue. you might write about what is going on each time she sneezes..to see any kind of pattern.

Just thoughts............hugs to all of you.

Hello every one,
Well hazy is fianlly getting over her sniffles. She has been sneezing alot less. Saturday she was showing singes of a very low fever, but it is gone now, and she seems to be felling much bettter, I think it was only a touch of Kitty cold:). And so far so good, Nori (our Kitten) who is about 7 months old, isnt sneezing. I hope it stays that way. Our apartment is small so it isnt feazable to keep them separate.
Thank you all so much for your concern, and support, it has really helped me get through this.
Sorry I havnt been around over the last few days, it's been busy.
Thank you all again,
With love and grat*itude,
Cheessy

Glad Hazy is doing well! Before I scrolled to the bottom and read that she'd recovered, I was going to offer my story. My Cheddar had sneezes too. Not often, but went on for months. Then I suddenly made the connection: she was allergic to feathers. I took the down comforter off the bed, and voila, she was fine.

Thanks for keeping us updated on Hazy. Glad the sniffles are gone. Don't ever wonder if something is too small to worry about. It is better to ask like you did instead of worrying yourself. If something worries me I don't hesitate to call and ask the vet even just to ease my mind. I know I can't call him constantly but when it really seems to worry me a lot, I am so glad when I find out nothing drastic is going on. And if this leads to me catching something in time, well that's always well worth it.

So between the vet and the Internet, hopefully most answers can be found.

Hugs to you and your babies and glad they are doing fine.
