I lost my P-kitty (aka puff) yesterday...and the tears just wont stop...
First, a little background... In Febuary of 2003, i went out to fetch the garbage can as i did every tuesday. Except this time, there was a small orange and white female cat in our driveway. Completely sweet, my mom fell in love with her immediately. She was dubbed Princess due to her royal attitude ![]() It was soon after that we began to see another orange and white cat prowling the neighborhood. This cat was almost identical to Princess, except much thinner. We initally thought this cat was a male as our attempts to befriend were mostly ignored. Then one fateful day, the thin kitty approached me mewing softly. While i was petting, i realized that she was a she and a nursing mother. I asked her to take me to her kittens, which she suprislingly did. She took me to a house not far from mine where 4 kittens scampered and played. That was, until they saw me. The man that lived at the house had come out telling me that she had been there for a couple of months, but he was moving soon and could not help them. So, it was then when i decided to adopt them all. The man informed me that there used to be a fifth one, but he hadnt seen it in a long time. We moved the kittens and mom to our house and reveled in our new kitty family. Angel (the mom) and the kittens (Loki, Sarge, Puff and Sara) warmed up to us quickly. Times were good ![]() One day, as i went out to change thier water, i found a tiny white furball ravenously eating the dry food i had left. AHA! Amazingly, the fifth kitten had traveled to our house and of course we welcomed him with open arms. He was in bad shape, ear mites, fleas, worms...you name it, he had it. He was extremely underwieght and malnourished. After two days of nonstop cooing to him, he finally allowed me to hold him. At the moment, Cotton Ball is happily purring in my lap as i type this (not a small feat, as he has grown considerably!!!!!!) Alas, two days ago, my mother awoke me with "I can't find Puff, she hasn't come in to eat yet" Now, i knew right away something was terribly wrong. Puff was ALWAYS the first in for breakfast...I hurriedly dressed and set out to find her. I talked to all of my neighbors and no one had seen her. Except for the fellow who had moved into the house they were born. He had seen Puff on the road and pointed me toward her body. She had been hit by a car... Mere words cannot express how sad i am... My mother and i buried her and my father made a marker for her grave. I just got back from wandering the neighborhood in search of flowers... I'm not sure if the others realize she's gone, but i'm holding on to them a little tighter when i hug them now. Rest in Peace P-Kitty I love you and always will |

Dear Nyte,
No matter how our little one's cross over it is so horribly painful! Whether it's at home, at the vet's office or being hit by a car. We found a cat, a kitten and a little rabbit that had been run over and we buried them in my yard. It's heart breaking! You're so sweet for taking in the little family as you did, not many people would do that. The tears are quite normal under the cir%%stances so let them flow. Everyone has their own way of grieving. Losing a special friend is painful and it make's you sad but you will come to term's with it in your own time. I'm still crying and it's been over 2 week's for me. It's so hard! You will find many understanding compassionate people here in LS and it will help to talk about it. God Bless; Cheryl |

Dear Nyte:
Hi! I am so extremely sorry for the loss of your baby P.Kitty (aka "Puff) ![]() First, I really need to praise you & your family for opening your home & your hearts to a new mom-kitty & the initial four furbabies.....and then, to Cotton-Ball...the 5th furbaby. God Bless you, as you all must have hearts of Gold, not to mention, so much love to share!!!! ![]() Do you still have Princess, as well???? I am sorry for the terrible way poor Puff died... You gave lil' Puff a chance to live in a wonderful home, with wonderful people who adopted her whole kitty clan!! It sounds to me as though Angel & her kittens were waiting for your arrival to take them home....to adopt & love them, always. It seems as they were always meant to be yours!!!! It is interesting to me that the 1st man to live in that house, knew of the mom & her litter. He had to move, and that's where you & your family stepped in to bring them to your home to be your new "furfamily"... And then, later on, the "NEW" guy, in the same house, led you to little Puff..... Maybe you had a special connection with Puff, that makes you feel as though you feel like you have "half the amounts of cats now".... Could that be what it is??? Puff is now over Rainbow's Bridge...and there she is just like you always remembered her.... She's with all of our furbabies who have passed over the Bridge; they are all playing together, there's no pain..... You & your family are in my prayers...... Love, Denise -------------------- Our Beloved Girl, Ernestine (AKA) "Ernie-Bird"

Thank you Denise...You have no idea how much your thoughts and well wishes mean to me, again...thank you. Oh and yes we still have Princess. She is a "plus size" kitty now, and as i type she is sitting at my window surveying the backyard. All 6 (oh man...that still sounds wrong...i'm so used to saying 7) of em are doing great. Sarge seems to be craving more attention now, but other than that, i havent noticed any symptoms of anything. They are eating fine, no overcleaning etc. I suppose that with that mysterious kitty wisdom they have all of them know that someday they'll see her again.
Every one of them has thier own certain niche, Puff was the beautiful one. I know i'm biased, but she was strikingly gorgeous as most of the people that met her said. I wish i could find a free site to upload a pic. I know this sounds silly but I used to imagine that if she could speak, she would have a french accent and a dainty little voice. wow...can't believe its only been three days...it seems like MUCH longer! much love to all Nyte |
