On her fourth month gone - I miss my old girl

wub.gif

her pretty, pretty face

her interest and optimism

her clicking and clacking on my hardwood floors

her snuffling and snorting

her loopy, yet somehow, regal gait

her cheerful manner

I haven't had a winter without her in fourteen years
hopefully happy memeories will keep it from hurting too much
yeah?

Your Sunshine looks beautiful. Funny how we miss some of the things that we do isn't it? 14 wonderful years now must seem like just a few days.

I too will be spending my first winter without my Flossie. Only 4 weeks on Thanksgiving Day. 17 Thanksgivings, 17 winters, 17 birthdays.............. I've been trying to remember little things from while she was young and healthy to keep her memory a bit happier in my mind. She had many hard times over the years but always rallied and those memories remind me again and again of her spirit.

Hoping happy memories for both of us.... we should have many after so many wonderful years.

Thanks sad.gif , for the kind words

Her memory (and my loves who have gone before her) will keep me warm.
Thanks for reminding me, Ann

I'd like to think that our pets have conspired to see that we're blanketed in love
and warm wishes this winter

Seventeen? Oh, Flossie's Mom, that's amazing. I hope Thanksgiving was okay for you.
So lucky, you two, to have each other for such a long, long time.

I picked Nori up when she was two from a rescue, she had a dreadful reputation and rumor
had it that there had been a request to put her down

She was only supposed to stay with me for three days (I was the "interim" foster mom)

Needless to say, we recognized one another immediately and fourteen very happy years followed

She was such a very good friend to me, I hope I gave her at least as much in return

and I used to think ten was old!

the love and friendship we share with our little (big) ones is truly amazing, it hurts so much when they go
but god, what a joy and an honor to know them, huh?

good things, zookeeper

Your most certainly right. It IS such a joy and honor to know them. Only a true animal lover can feel that way.. I laughed about how you said you were only going to keep her for 3 days..Ha, she knew what she was doing..Thanks for sharing. Ann
