Today Goliath would have turned 11 years old had he lived. My memories of him are so very many. Goliath is the curve in my smile, the sparkle in my eyes, the joy in my heart and the light of my life.

When he was just a little puppy, he developed a very unusual way to walk. He pranced just like a clydesdale horse and held his head high. All his life he walked in "attention getting" style and was just a little ham for a crowd of people or a camera. He was an absolute "little dickens."

Chihuahuas often get a reputation for being mean little ankle biters. My Goliath was never anything but sweet and loving toward all of God's living creatures and he loved to visit the kitties at the pet shop or adoption center. His sweet little face and feisty personality charmed anybody who came in contact with him. Just looking at him put smiles on people's faces, young and old alike.

Together, Goliath and I learned so much in obedience classes as well as advanced dog classes. He was so in tune with me and I with him that he learned things very quickly. His eagerness to learn and desire to please was written all over his face. Not only did he know verbal commands but also responded to hand commands. In a short period of time Goliath learned to wave, roll over, sit, lay down, close doors, give kisses, salute, "gimme five," stay, fetch, hand shake, dance and anything else I chose to teach him. I'm not sure who enjoyed our school days together more, me or him. It didn't really matter what we did, as long as we were doing it together was all that mattered.

We shared our entire lives together including vacations, hiking, walking, bike riding, napping, parties, camping, boating and at the end of our busy days we curled up together.

At bedtime Goliath would wait for the sound of my eyeglasses to close and for me to turn off the TV. He would immediately act like he didn't really want to jump into my arms to sleep. His "cussing grrrr" would almost sound as though I was making him get into my arms. Then he would heave a big sigh, make his happy "mmmm" noises and snuggle in as close to me as he could. In my arms is where he slept all night long, and it is now when I go to bed that I find myself missing him the most.

Our special connection was beyond my wildest dreams. We understood each other completely. While others didn't always understand him, I understood him far better than I do most human beings and loved him more for it.

On November 6th 2007, Goliath passed very suddenly. As I held Goliath in my arms I looked deep into his eyes and he in mine. The angels had come and took him back to Jesus and a special part of me died too. Though I tried desperately to breathe life back into his tiny limp body, God said it was His turn for Goliath to sit in His lap. I begged God to take me instead of my baby boy and I gladly would have done so without question, but God said that it was not my time just yet.

I will always remember his sweet kisses, loving disposition, his feisty personality and his friendship. His memories will remain imprinted on my heart forever.

Thank you Katzen for sharing in my celebration and love for Goliath. Especially today being his birthday it means more to me than I can even begin to put into words.

I feel like shouting to the whole world how much I love him and always will and felt today was the perfect day to share with others by posting his tribute.

Happy Birthday Goliath!!!!! You live forever in your dear mommies heart, and now you live in us all too. When it is my time to cross over I can't wait to meet you.

This trubute is so buetiful, thank you for sharing it with all of us. Those pictures are just soo gorgeous, he lept right in to my heart the first time I saw him. He is a beutiful boy. I can't wait to show these pics to my husband. I will look at them and smile every time.

I sincerly hope that on this day, your memories, and the loved you shared with your dear one can comfort you. I knbow how much you love him, and how much you miss him, he is so lucky to have you, and he is looking down on you and his little tag is wagging, and he wants you to be happy.

Happy Birthday, Little One! I am sure there is a celebration at the Bridge that we over here can not even comprehend. What a beautiful tribute to your baby boy. The pictures were just wonderful. What loving memories and what a gift it was for you to share your memories with us, here on the forum. Thank you for such a gift! Your beautiful pictures make me smile and like Cheesy, I look forward to meeting Goliath when the time is right.

I have thought about Goliath all day today as it was 3 months ago on this day that the angels took him to heaven.

I know he is soaring high in the sky because he must have the biggest wings a chihuahua could possibly have.

Dear Dayna & Furkidlet's Mom,

What a nice surprise for me to come and see your birthday wishes for my sweet Goliath! I'm sure it made his day just as happy as it did mine.

Yesterday morning I did spend some quiet time holding his urn before I opened it and added some rose petals. As I felt his remains between my fingers, we both fell into a communion of peace and solitude. I could feel him with me the entire time. The day he was born will never be forgotten by me nor his radiant bright face that is still so alive in my mind and heart. These precious images I have of him are just as vivid and clear today, just as they have always been. Our love for each other remains as strong now as it ever was.

Thank you both so much for remembering my baby boy with such bright and beautiful thoughts of him. He truly did bless and enrich my life so much. I can never thank him enough for spending his life with me. He is the music in me that will always lead my heart.

Goliath I love you just as much today as I always loved you when you were here on this earth. Our love for each other can never die for we are bound by our hearts now and forevermore. Not one day has gone by that I haven't thought of you at least 100 times over since you left in the arms of the angels a little over two years ago now. But I feel your love walk beside me each and everyday and share that love with all. Your loving spirit has never left me and I know it never will. Because of you Goliath, I am a better me!

May God keep you safe and ready to come fetch me one day. I'll look for you with open arms when once again you can smother me with your tender sweet kisses of love and affection. I will love you til the day after forever.

When God created you, He blessed me with the honor of being your Momma. The 10 years and 8 months we had together were the best of my life and I will always cherish the memories you and I made together.

Goliath's spirit is still walking right beside me. His love is abundant and his sunshine is what gets me through day to day. He is as vivid in my mind just as much now as he ever was. That little Shortstuff always had great birthdays while he was here, so I'm sure he had a wonderful birthday in Heaven as well. Til the day I die, I will think of him daily.

Well Shortstuff! Here it is again....... YOUR BIRTHDAY. The day the angels sang and you became mine.........a true gift from God. Wait for me my precious baby boy because you can be sure that you and I will one day be together again. You fell straight from Heaven on this day in 1997 and left on the wings of angels in 2007. Last night I was up and down every few hours, which is very unusual for me to do. This morning after thinking about Goliath I realized why. Though I thought about him yesterday, more than once, I didn't get here to LS to wish him a Happy Birthday.

Here's wishing Goliath, the love of my life, a Happy Birthday!! Not a day has gone by since he left so unexpectedly just over 7 years ago.

What love you mom has for you that she remembers you every years on your birthday. Thank you for choosing her out of all the people in the universe to be your mom. The Good Shepherd had only one instruction for you when HE sent you down to earth, "Don't stop looking until you find her." And, you, the tiniest dog of all did just that. Oh how much happiness and joy was packaged in that little body! And still is. We humans are kinda dumb sometimes. We say that if we can't see something or hear it or touch it or smell it, it doesn't exist. But your mom knows the truth - she knows about your soul - a soul as big as the universe, and JUST FOR HER!

Please let her feel the gentlest of your paws wiping away her tears on this your special day. We have a beautiful song here on earth that says, "Soon and Very Soon" and it's about someday sooner than we think, we too will go to the Perfect World where you are and be reunited with all of our beloved ones - of every species.

Who can forget the smallest dog with the biggest name? Somebody loved you to give you that name! And while you were on earth, you lived up to it and filled her heart with BIG joy. When you are in the Perfect World, we here on earth often become sad and weep that we cannot see you or hear you or hold you in our arms. But one glad morning we WILL be together again, this time never to part.

Goliath I feel horrible this morning. Though I thought about you many times over yesterday, I didn't come here to wish you a happy birthday. I woke up at 3:31 this morning which was the exact time you left on the wings of an angel. You will always be in my heart my sweet baby. You would have turned 19 had you lived and a day still doesn't go by that you don't cross my mind. Especially when your brothers Browser and Bugsy get to playing hard. You would have had a blast with them. Don't ever forget that I will love you til the day after forever!!

Hey Shortstuff!! Mama fell asleep with you on her mind last night before leaving you a love note here. Happy birthday my sweet boy! I had breakfast with Aunt Martha yesterday and she wished you a happy birthday too! 😊 It would have been your 20th birthday Goliath! You're still in my heart where you will be forever!
