I lost my Baby Lilly 6 weeks ago and I don't know how to deal with the pain. She was my 6 yr old dachshund. She was diagnosed with diabetes. It ws too late to help her. I can't stop thinking about her. It's just too hard to go on without her. I have a 15 yr old Dachshund who is grieving her little heart out over this as well. Someone pleasee help me!

I'm so very sorry about your loss of your Baby Lilly. I understand how deep the pain is & your heartbreak. When I lost my Landrover, my 15 yr. old toy fox terrier on June 7, 2007 I didn't know how I was going to go on living without him. It helped me to keep a journal writing about my happy memories of him & special things about him. My husband buried him in the front yard right where from my bedroom window I can look out & see him & I still say good morning & goodnight to him every morning & night. These things helped & still do. I know you will never forget your Lilly but the hurt although it never goes away completely will eventually become less disabling. She will always hold a special place in your heart & in time when you think about her it will not be so painful. I still cry at times but also find comfort & it makes me smile when I listen to 2 songs that when he was alive I used to listen to, sing to him & which perfectly described how I felt about him, "I Don't Love You Much Do I?" & "You Are My Sunshine." At the time I also gathered together some of his things for a shadow box memorial. And as hard as it is for us to deal with the loss we are still able to understand what has happened but your little dachshund only knows that Lilly is gone. It may help you both if you can give your other dog extra love, comfort & attention. That may help go toward healing & filling the deep void for both of you. I did eventually get another dog, a toy fox/jack russell mix that I named Drover from a rescue about 7 mo. after I had lost my Landrover. At the time of the time I lost him I couldn't imagine getting another dog but also couldn't stand the emptiness without him. I love Drover completely although my Land was & will always be my special one. It may help also to talk with the special people in your life, your family & friends about your feelings of loss & about Lilly. Even talking about special memories of Lilly can help. Open up to others who can understand what you are going through. It helped me a lot to do that. Don't be afraid to let your feelings out & cry when you need to. You need to grieve on your own timetable. Take care, you are in my thoughts & I hope you find peace & relief from the pain you & your other dog are feeling. Debbie
