Well, I went out today & bought a brand new litter box & litter, a few kitty toys, and a food bowl.......sounds like I'm ready, huh? My husband & I have been talking about this for the last few weeks & we really feel that our home is sadly missing a cat. I really, really want this but I am a bit scared because my heart is still not healed from my loss of Peaches. I know that there is no other that will ever replace her, that is impossible. But in my experience I've found that they all have their different, sweet little ways & am hoping I will fall in love again. I have been looking online at rescue shelters in my area & I am shocked at how many cats need homes. It's heartbreaking. I wish I could take more than one, but right now I don't think I can, with both of us working. We're looking for a full-grown cat who likes to cuddle and (here's the hard part) likes DOGS!!! Especially mine.....Ugh...... this won't be easy. He/she will need to deal with Zusha's often overbearing affection, this works fine for us, but I imagine Zusha will be a bit of an acquired taste for a kitty. It took some time for Peaches to warm up to her. But when it happened, what a beautiful thing it was! Zusha looked after her & worried about her during her illness, and I think Peaches actually appreciated that. I'm going to try to attach a photo of the 2 of them taken in my kitchen shortly before we lost her (check out the St. Patrick's day bib on Zusha!)
Wish us luck, we are taking a few days off later this week to find our new fur-love. I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks for everything. |

Hey, well good for you! You might only be able to take one cat in but at least that is one less homeless kitty... and whoever he/she is will be one lucky and very happy cat I am sure.

Hi kimm
Getting a new Kitten is the BEST thing you can do, And twice as good with two! I waited 9 days after Leo died to get our new Kitten. At the begining I thought it was a little too close to Leo's passing, But now I have come to realize that it was the best thing for me! Cosmo doesn't replace Leo but he sure does fill that empty "void". And he made it easlier. Please post some pics so we can see them! I just posted some new pics of Cosmo. If you'd like you can see them they are on this board under "A Valentine" |

Hi everyone,
Thank you all so much for your encouragement, & for sharing the beautiful pics of your sweet babies with us. They are all so precious! Macguy, I totally agree, these 2 little guys were exactly what I needed to fill the hole in my heart after I lost Peaches (my husband too). I was so hesitant, because I knew no one could replace her & I was afraid how I would feel if I didn't feel the same connection. However, I can tell you, these 2 have truly stolen our hearts. Their personalities are different from Peaches, but still SO very sweet, & I am in love with both of them!!!! They are both strays, both about 2 years old, and turned in to the same shelter. Higgins was found wandering the streets in a seedy urban section of the city, & Carol was found living under someone's porch. I saw Higgins on the internet & when I inquired about him they said yes, he's still available, & now has a friend who's very sweet & also needs a home. No pressure, but would you like to meet Carol too? So.......that night on our way home from work, we stopped in, & it didn't take long to figure out they were BOTH coming home with us!!!! Everyone who has met them.....the people at the shelter, the vet, couldn't believe how sweet & well-adjusted they both were, considering their backgrounds. I was worried about how they would take to Zusha, because she is such a huge love-monster, but after a week & a half Higgins figured out that he actually LIKES Zusha, & Carol is warming up to her now too. I will once again attempt to attach some photos.......let's see what happens. Higgins is all black & Carol is calico. Kim |

I'm so happy for you! I'm sure that really does help fill the void. I wish I could convince my husband it's time for a new cat. I'm ready but he's not.

OK, I know I am techno-moron. I have tried SO many times to post pics here & I CANNOT do it. I was just wondering if anyone has any words of advice. Otherwise I will have to describe in minute detail how CUTE they are!!!! (Trust me, as a proud mom, I can do this.....but I don't want to subject you all to it!!)
Here's what I'm doing. First I copied the pics to a folder on my desktop. When I want to add them to a post, I click on the "browse" button on the bottom & choose the file (picture) I want to attach. Then I hit "add reply". (These are the instructions I got from the LS support site so if it looks familiar, that's why). When I do this, sometimes I lose the whole post, & sometimes the post posts without the attached photos. I have never been able to attach one simple photo as of yet. I am sure I am missing a step somewhere but don't know what I'm doing wrong. When you attach a photo & hit add reply, do you actually SEE the attachment on the post before you reply, or do you just check it afterwards??? Thanks for your help everyone. Sorry for being such a goof. By the way, my kitties are SO happy to be here.....they are even cool with Zusha! Both of them! I'm not worried anymore about all 3 of them hanging out in the house all day unsupervised, because they seem to have come to some kind of agreement......this is my turf, that's yours, & we'll talk later. I feel like they've breathed new life into me. I will always love & miss Peaches. They will never replace her, & I never expected them to. But wow, since the second they set foot in our door.......they were a couple of little lovebugs who needed me & distracted me from my sorrow. I love them both so much. |

I upload mine to a free photo hosting site such as photobucket.com then it gives me the code to paste into the message. I've never tried to attach them the way you are doing, but you might try uploading instead. Good luck. We're anxious to see the little cuties! -------------------- |

Thanks, Alley's Mom. I'll give it a try.
These 3 are keeping us busy! Carol is a real clown, she jumps so high going for the feather toy. Higgins likes to sit on my vanity & look at himself in the mirror (!) I can't blame him, he is a handsome little devil! Here is a good picture of Zusha with Peaches around St. Patrick's day. I've been wanting to post this for a long time.......thanks again, Alley's Mom!!!! |

Hi everyone,
Here are a few more pictures. I'm resized them (the first ones were HUGE, sorry!) Carol napping....Zusha says, "whos been sleeping in MY bed???" Higgins says, "Cool, I get the loveseat all to myself!" In a rare photo, the 3 of them together (sort of.....) |
