Lost Chico a week ago and the familiar grief with the loss of one's dog comes around but seems more difficult with him. Pomeranian's were never my style too yippy but cute I admit. Chico came from a pound after a lady had to give him and his sister up for some unknown reason.

He was sought out after my mother who had dementia and ovarian cancer, lost her dog Little Foot suddenly. Her home was way too quite and we found Chico. Chico protected my mom in his mind and bark on her in home hospital bed till the end. She kept him covered up and he tolerated that as he did not care for being covered. When she passed two years ago by spouse was not hip on him joining us and I was seeking some older lady to take him but my spouse surprised me and brough him in our home one night for me too keep. She might have liked him but really never admitted it too much due to my devotion to him.

Chico was mostly a one at a time person type of dog. He would have attatched to any of you once I was gone. We were informed he had a heart murmur and it did get worse over time. The last Xray his heart seemed to double in size compared to last xray. The usual meds helped but Vet Med In... helped the most give him breaks from his cough. FYI it all started out seeming like a hairball ocasionally a year or so (the decline).

Now, reality.... a wonderful soul is gone, who eyes could charm anyone with a heart .. he had no idea I think that he was a small dog. I miss him beyound these words and I have empathy for all of you and your pets. I came here for relief and to read the words of wisdom. I still find myself sitting crooked in my chair as he spent his time on one side, he had me trained quite well.

All the best to all of you....when I was in the Carribean..... a phrase they said stuck with me and it was when one was leaving they would say "Even best friends must part." How true. Curt

So sorry for your loss of such a huge presence in a small body! It is never easy to lose a member of our family, but the small ones who depend on us are the toughest to lose. He was a very lucky dog indeed to have you. You cared for and made sure he was always a happy little boy.
I know my words can't soothe your soul, but by having recently lost my baby kitty I do know how you feel and wish for you only better days to come. In time you will move over in your chair, or perhaps find room for another needy puppy. But whatever or where ever you are, your baby Chico is there with you always. That is why your chest feels heavy,
He just moved in, right next to your heart!
Here's to the bestest of friends.....who says you have to part!!!?

Hi, Curt, please permit me to offer you my sincerest sympathies in the physical loss of your beloved Chico. Losing a beloved companion is never easy regardless of the circumstances or how long we are blessed with the privilege of their company.

Curt, even though we eventually we are faced with the enormous adjustment to not having the physical presence of our companions with us, they are forever with us in our hearts and our memories. Your beloved Chico's sweet Living Spirit is forever a part of you, Curt, and nothing can ever take this away from you. He is now reunited with your mom, and they are forever grateful for all the love and wonderful care you gave him during his earthly journey.

Curt, this grief journey is a one day at a time journey, sometimes a one moment at a time journey. Please know you are among friends here who truly do understand what you are going through, and we are here for you for as long and as often as you need us.
Thank you, Curt, for sharing your beloved Chico with us. Perhaps sometime you will feel up to sharing a picture(s) of him with us - - but only if / when you want to. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, Curt, and look forward to knowing how you're doing.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam
