I was so distraught over losing Husker that I never really told any of you about myself and my family. I am 27 years old and live in Iowa. My boyfriend and I have been together since 2001 and we bought a house together a few years ago. I am starting my degree in dental hygiene at the end of August. We now have 3 fur babies: Miles, Huskers brother, who we adopted from our local humane society. Lucky, a stray cat that camped out under our carport during a blizzard the first winter we moved into our home. And Mya, our German Shepherd, who is 2 years old now, and has been diagnosed with kidney failure. The vet says that we will have 2 to 4 "good" years with her and her diagnosis was about a year ago. The vet moniters her health pretty well. She has blood tests done every 6 months and she is on a prescription diet. I'm also posting pics of our fur babies..hope you like it!

It has been 18 days since we lost Husker...but it feels like an eternity. Last night, I laid in bed and thought about him and the funny things that he used to do. I would like to share some of those memories...not just to share them, but because it helps me when I can write them ( or type them ) out.

1.)He used to unroll and shred toilet paper like it was his job!
2.)He would run off with the bread ties...and even open the cabinet door to get them.
3.)His favorite place to sleep was on an old pair of my boyfriends sweatpants that are on the floor in his closet.

We all miss you Husker and we love you so much!

Hi everybody. My name is Maranda and I'm dealing with a heart breaking situation right now. My 3 year old cat Husker is at the vets office due to illness and is scheduled to be put to sleep tonight when the dr gets back into town. I took him there about 3 weeks ago bc I thought he had a bladder infection ( he used to get them when he was a kitten ) only to find out that he had a blockage in his bladder. The vet ran a catheter and flushed his bladder out and sent him home after a few days. By the following weekend, he had another blockage. My boyfriend took him to the vets office last Monday and he has been there ever since. His bladder has been clogged five times since hes been there. The dr called me this morning and recommended putting him to sleep. I am devestated! He is such a sweet cat...he likes to lay on your chest and put his face against your face....and a few times a week, I wake up and hes laying on my chest just purring away. I am going to miss him so much!! We still have his brother Miles though....and I'm not sure how I'm going to get Miles through this either. We adopted them from the humane society 3 years ago and they have never been apart. Any advice on how to cope? Thanks
