I'm a 15 year old girl.

My 1 year old male kitten Franz went missing 3 nights ago and we haven't seen him since. I just wish i knew what had happened to him - we think he has been attacked and killed by foxes, as we've got a colony of foxes right at the bottom of our garden.

Not knowing is so horrible and I just want to know he isn't starving or suffering - I almost wish he were dead and we knew for sure.

I thought I had come to terms with his death, but then I read an article which says he may still be alive and lost someplace. But I just don't want any more fruitless searching. We've put up posters everywhere, and posted flyers, and I just want him back.

I 've been treating it like he is dead, which is easier. But these articles keep telling me to keep searching and keep hoping, but I don't want to be disappointed and hurting any more.

PLease, what should I do?

Hi, I am SO sorry about what you are going through!!! sad.gif There is nothing like the constant heartache of not knowing where your baby is----wondering if he's hurt, etc. sad.gif

I totally understand your thinking. The constant searching and agonizing can be brutal.

It's a coincidence to read your post today, because TODAY, my good friend's cat came back after 10 days. He was closed inside a neighbor's garage for that whole time. He's fine, thank God. Are there any garages/sheds/other seldom-used places in your area where you could specifically ask the neighbors to check?

I had been praying all along for this cat's safe return, but last night I prayed the most heartfelt prayer ever, and today he is home. Not saying that prayer will bring your kitty home, but I do know that miracles happen, and there is magic in heartfelt prayer.

Do you think maybe keeping some hope alive, while at the same time coming to an acceptance that Franz may have died?

I am adding my prayers that Franz comes home. Please keep us posted---either way. IF it ends up that Franz is gone, we will be here to support you!!

Take good care of yourself, and keep in touch.

Love,
Kathy

p.s Have you mentioned this to your local animal shelter?.. just in case.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Still no Franz - it's been 4 days now. We've notified all our local vets, animal shelters, the police (in case while on their patrol they saw him). We've also been out looking and listening, because he is a very vocal cat and he would be miaowing a lot if he was trapped anywhere - but we haven't heard anything. We've also asked our neighbours to check their sheds and garages.

I've accepted he may be dead, but I'm trying to think positive - and I hope that what happened to your friend's cat happens to us.

Thank you so much for your prayers. It really means a lot, and I will keep you posted.

Thank you.

Just to let you know, we found him in my next door neighbour's closet yesterday, alive, a little thin, but otherwise absolutely fine! Thank you for your support!
