Lightning-Strike Pet Loss Support Forum _ New Beginnings _ Iggy Is Four Today!

Ignatius The Great begins the fourth year of His Reign today!

Last year we had a health scare which costs thousands. When we brought Zacchary home, he brought a kennel-cough like thing home.
But even after clearing that up, Iggy had digestive issues, running in terror with diarreah.
At one point, the Vet said, "They HATE this..I had better get the Tech to help: I have to give him a rectal exam."
Poor Iggy was howling and roaring like a lion..And he is usually such a sweet cat!
So I said to him, "Son, This is why I always tell you to stay out of prison!"
The Vet and the tech broke up in helpless laughter. The laughter shocked Iggy so much he shut up.

AFTER all this, and the $$$, we solved the issue. Iggy was secretly breaking into, and gorging himself on the bag of Iam's Hairball food we had for the longhair cats! It contained BEET PULP and mineral oil, and was a kind of Nuclear Grade Laxative in the amounts he was stealing.

He now weighs fifteen pounds, and we continue to grow closer as friends. My wife is convinced Iggy considers me his pet. He STARES at me and makes me do things. Some time ago, I had said, " I wish I could talk to Iggy, just for an hour, so we could understand each other better."
But that was silly. We communicate perfectly, as long as I remeber who is the boss.

The only tension we have is for regular shots and checkups. "You AIN'T BRINGING ME TO THAT PREVERT AGAIN, ARE YOU???"

This new beginning has been four years long, now. But with an animal friend, it is ALWAYS a new beginning, isn't it? They have minds, they change and grow. They abandon some tricks and games, and make up new ones.

I had forgotten that Iggy & Mr. Jingles were just a day apart!

I can relate all too well what joy you feel having him in your life. Yesterday it almost seemed as if Jingles knew it was his birthday............ we got him when we "homsteaded" on this property in a 5th wheel camper when we first got him. He absolutely LOVES it when I open the door to it and rushes inside. Sometimes when he is hiding as he knows I am going to make him come inside I will open that door so he'll come running........ hate to trick him but I won't leave him out if I'm going off the property and when it is close to time for the owls to be out. I let him "play" in the 5th wheel as long as he wanted and he came & went, ran around like a madman outside, talked a lot about what a good time he was having. When I closed up the trailer he was reaching for the door handle with his lean self all stretched out obviously not wanting the day to be over.

A great big Happy Birthday to Iggy from me and Mr. Jingles from the farm!!!

Hello Jon730, what a beautiful Tuxedo boy you have there! The Tuxedos are very special cats. I've been told that they are 200 % smarter than other cats. I am so glad he got over his episode of too much Iam's hairball food. The poor boy! That must have been a horrible experience for him. Here's wishing that you and Iggy will have many more happy years together! smile.gif

Thank you...
Don't let him hear that...He KNOWS, and is terribly conceited.

Oh, this is wonderful!!! smile.gif I had so much fun looking at his website. He looks so handsome walking on his leash, and very proud! And the bow ties really do suit him. I had always wanted to dress up my Danny boy with a little red Santa hat at Christmas time, but he was very skittish about such things. Thanks for sharing Iggy's website. He is truly loved and such a special boy! smile.gif

It is bad enough the years go so quickly, but now even the months are.

Iggy is FIVE, as of last month!
He is now a grownup.
Leash-wise, he has become the best dog I have ever had. We are inseperable. He has lost some of his playfulness, but has gained in poise, and remains comically expressive.

Even for a cat, he is quite an odd duck..willful, but can be reasoned with. He has a phenomenal memory and is STILL looking in the same place for the snake he found two years ago.

Happy belated birthday to Iggy! smile.gif He looks very regal in this picture, a very handsome tux! I have thought about taking Shelley out on a leash as she enjoys the outdoors.

Hi, Jon, thank you so much for sharing your precious Iggy's birthday with us. Yes, I know what you mean when you share with us "It is bad enough the years go so quickly, but now even the months are." I feel the same way when I look at my precious Noah - - it is hard to believe that next month he will be 10 years old - - how can it be when it was just yesterday that I brought him home when he was still just a tender little tyke.

I so share DannysMom description of your precious Iggy "He looks very regal in this picture, a very handsome tux!" I'm smiling at his walking on a leash. I am so pleased your precious Iggy enjoys his time in the BIG outside world close to you.

I hope life is treating you and your precious Iggy kindly, Jon, and that you will continue to have many happy and healthy years together in your earthly journey. Please know you and your precious Iggy are in my thoughts and prayers, and that I look forward to sharing how things are going for you.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam
