My cat Darcey has been missing 3 weeks. Despite putting up posters and all else you could think of, I still haven't found her.

Tonight at 11.30pm I got a call from a guy saying "Do you have a shovel? Cause I've just ran over your cat." He said he was about a 5 min drive away and that he'd wait and my fiancé drove down. He sounded genuine.

I was shaking, thinking 'Oh no, Darcey is actually dead ...' With my dog Bono's 2 year anniversary coming next week, I couldn't believe it. I just began panicking. Told Mark to take her to the vet even if she was dead.

But when my fiancé got there, there was no man or no dead cat. My fiancé - Mark rang the number and the person began acting like an idiot

Mark: You said you killed my cat? I'm here and I can't see you
The guy: Yes, I'm at a different road
Mark: You said you were at the bottom of my street
The guy: Doesn't look like it
Mark: Where is my cat?
The guy: I don't have a cat
Mark: No. You'd said you ran over my cat.
The guy: No I'm in a wheelchair
Mark: This is just a hoax isn't it
The guy: Looks like it
Mark: Do you think this is funny?
The guy: Only at weekends

And then he hung up ...

oh gillian, i am so sorry that person put you thru that. there is a special place in hell for those people.
i lost both of my dogs yesterday and my dh had to take the day off work to bury them and today when he went in, the idiots who he works with had created a nasty, tasteless obit for 2 fake dead dogs named spot and fluffy then posted it on the bulletin board for my dh to find. im having a baby in 8 days and i buried both of my dogs yesterday and i wish the wrath of God upon anyone who thinks its fun to make a joke out of our pain.
i certainly hope your kitty is safe somewhere and that she finds her way home soon.

This is what I have to say about that A-Hole who made that call to you: Please allow me to be the one who throws the switch or pushes the button or ... Just fill in the blank ...

I would so much LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee on his worthless, most heinous, unconscionable arse! I mean to tell you I'd love to smack him so hard that his first or next child would be born with a headache!!!!!

I had better stop now. You don't know me. You are not aware of how tollerent, peaceful, forgiving and so on that I am but I'm over here shouting profanitity that would make any drunken Marine BLUSH for what was done to you regarging your fur baby!!!!

I do believe in Karma and what that A-hole did will be visited back upon himself ONE HUNDRED FOLD!!!

Actually you can do a call trace. I would. Someone called and hung up a couple of times after we put Ziggy's poster up looking for her killer. However, I actually think the person on the line was my stepdaughter's bf now so we haven't followed up. But I would definitely do a call trace with that sort of abusive call. In fact I'd call the police about it - it's harrassment. People do this sort of thing because they get away with it, just like the coward who shot Ziggy for entertainment purposes.

Okay, I am vaporizing them all in my mind - poof! Wish I could do that, or at least transform them to nicer people.

What is wrong with those people? These are the same people who make it okay to shoot a cat or poison a dog. If it were me I'd be busily doing some creative writing for the bulletin board about people who are disconnected from the animal world. Or finding an article to put up about how people who don't value pets are emotionally challenged or something like that. Maybe there is an appropriate cartoon somewhere....

These people are bullies and they get away with it because they get a sense of power. Rip that power from under them and it's not so funny anymore.

I'm not sure I could do a call trace on a mobile / cellphone ... If I called the police they'd do nothing. Once I called them cause kids were throwing stones at my dogs, and I had it on VIDEO, and they told me off for videoing kids! Telling me if the kids complained that I was videoing them, they'd have to go after me! I was only videoing them cause they were throwing stones at my house and my dogs! And I THOUGHT I was gathering evidence. But evidently not. The police are crap.

The thing which gets me now is I'm not going to be able to trust genuine callers ...

BTW I'm SO sorry about your 2 dogs. What happened to them?

That's horrible about Ziggy being shot ...

gillian, my 2 dogs knocked down a fence post and broke the one next to it in half and got out of my yard to go on an adventure. they both got hit by cars on the highway less than 1/4 mile from my house. they were about 30 yards away from each other. i found one of them and my dh found the other.
losing a pet is hard enough to deal with, but losing all of them at once is way too much.

Hi Gillian. I read in one of your threads about you taking videos of kids throwing rocks at your fur kids and the police said you could get into trouble for that and so forth. I cannot find that thread again. Could you please tell me where it is because I do have some questions and suggestions that will get those kids in big time trouble and assure they'll never darken your path again. Legally, of course. You need not even mention the videos since they were taken surreptitiously so are inadmissible. You just witnessing it is more than sufficient. Can you please tell me where that thread is? Thanks!

Hi, it's 2 posts up on this thread. But it's no matter. The kids only bothered us for 2 weeks and then got bored when we began ignoring them. But still ... grrrr.

Awww poor little dogs. I'm so sorry. Sounds a nightmare. I couldn't imagine it happening to my 2 dogs.
