Do you? Or something of the like? Say a new pet you've gotten reminds you of a pet that has went to the bridge? Like maybe a reincarnation or something? Or maybe you've seen your pet in a glimpse somewhere, like maybe they are still there in your home?

Another forum I belong to (a miniature horse forum, I used to have mini horses) had a topic about this just a couple weeks ago...it was more along the lines of a reincarnation thread, but some posted about "seeing" their pets who have passed...like a glimpse in the hallway or something.

I have prayed for that you know, as I'm sure lots of you have. Just a sign...a glimpse...something.

Something happened a couple days after Brutus left us, and until today I really didn't make the connection...or maybe I'm just crazy..or hoping.

My husband is a deer hunter and he has one of those deer cams set up by his stand that takes pictures when something of motion walks in front of it. It is only like 50 yards from our house...we live in the boonies...But anyway, I think I saw Brutus on it...I mean it was a black dog...appeared to be a lab and it was walking away from the camera...it was just his bum, not his face. Brutus would always try to follow Doug's scent back there, he loved to go behind the barn....

We had Brutus euthanized on Monday, the 16th of this month...immediately after, we came home and got our other two dogs, Radar and Tanga and we went up to our other house we bought about a month ago, it is about 80 miles from our home. It is our weekend home and near a lake that we...especially Brutus...loved. Anyways, we got our other two boys and went "up north"...we spent the next two and half days in a daze...so sad and crying for Brutus...we came home on Thursday afternoon, we went to work, which was just awful. The next morning, my husband Doug, went out to see the pics on his deer cam...he brought the photo card in the house and loaded it on his computer. Low and behold, sometime on Thursday evening/night (can't remember the exact time)...there was a dog on it...it was a black lab I swear and it was walking away from the camera. I stared at that photo for a long time and thought...just coincidence (sp?)...but today, I've come to the conclusion that maybe it wasn't...maybe it was my pooh-man telling me he is ok and and he waited for us to come home before he actually left...making sure we were Ok? We don't have any close neighbors and we never see dogs out here..so just maybe???? It's possible isn't it?

I've never seen a spirit, human form but that doesn't mean it doesn't exsist...I mean I believe in God and I don't see him/her either, so it's certainly possible, right? That is if you believe in that kind of stuff. Why wouldn't a dog soul be as strong, if not stronger than a humans? It's possible. Would a dog soul be captured on camera??? I certainly don't know any of the answers to these questions...but right now I'm thinking that was my pooh-man, my soul dog Brutus.

The photo is on my husbands laptap and he is at work right now...I'm hoping he didn't delete it (I just sent him a text to not delete any of those photos)...if he didn't I will post the picture when he comes home tonight.

Do you have any stories to share...sightings, anything? Please share, I would love to hear them. It gives me hope, hope for what I don't know...but it's hope.

Hugs to all,
Brutus' Mom,
Sonya

Hello Sonya, Loved your story. Yes, it WAS your Brutus!...I believe it. My story brought me here..I lost my Arthur Jun 8, 2008..Long story short...The day his ashes were ready to be picked up, we set up a little grave for him with a solar light..That night all the solar lights around the house were out, but his was shining bright. I picked him up the next day and that night I begged him for a sign that I did the right thing in letting him go. I asked for him to come to me in a dream..Long story short again (so hard to do)..No dream, but the next day a cat with similar features was in my yard. Never saw him b4, never saw him since...I did post pix in my first post back in July of 08 under "the furry love of my life, I know he hears me"...If you scroll down, you may be able to find it...The strangest, and coolest thing I've ever experienced.. I hold it dear in my heart. I believe now in that "thin vail" you hear about.

The back side of your Brutus is to let you know he is always following you...Except it, treasure it. He is always with you...So very sorry for your loss...Hugs..Ann

ok, so here is the pic, it was actually Wednesday evening, 2 days after he left us....He is in the far right of the pic....I definately see a dog, a black dog...maybe my Brutus? Why not? I'm going to say it's him, even if it's just a stray...It's my Brutus wub.gif And it is not a bum shot....I don't think anyways..it may be forward shot...look at his right leg...the way it is bent...he is walking straight ahead maybe? I don't understand why there aren't more pics....normally it will take 10-15 pics of animals heading towards or even away from the camera?

Good morning Sonya

WOW, That certainly looks like a black lab , and if you say you have no near neighbours and have never seen other dogs around, well, I would take it that it's your Brutus alrighty. It's fantastic that you actually got the photo. He sure is letting you know he's there for you.

I certainly do believe in the spirit world as I have seen my granddad on many occasions up to my grandma passing. After she passed I never saw him again. It was as if he was waiting and now they have moved on together. Had messages from them, via mediums, but never seen them since. I know they are always with me, just as I believe my angel dogs are here, I can sense them, always by my side. Noushka used to come and sit in the kneehole under my computer desk whenever I was working at the computer, I'm sure she's there now. As for Tasha, she follows me around as she always used to. I 'WILL' them to let me 'see' them. So far only before sleep and in my dreams, so only see them when my eyes are closed. Does that make sense? Whatever I am seeing or maybe imagining it certainly gives me comfort.
A month after Noushka left us for the Rainbow Bridge my mother in law passed away. A couple of nights after she passed our 5 year old grandson ran into his mum and dads bedroom saying that great- nanna was standing at the bottom of his bed watching him. He was very sure about it. He wasn't scared at all. He tells me that Noushka and Tasha are fine and playing in heaven, and that I mustn't worry about them.
Take comfort that Brutus was sending the message, look mum. I am here. You can't get better evidence than a photo.
I see Noushka's face when I close my eyes before sleep, quite plainly , but that is the only time I actually see her, not sure if thats just memory visualisation, but I believe it's her way of saying , night night mum.
I'm sure Dottie(Angel) will zoom in on the photo and might be able to see things more clearly. I'm sure she will be thrilled to see the picture and read your new topic.
It sounds and looks so beautiful where you live. What a lovely life your dear Brutus and your other animal babes must have.
Thanks for posting this Sonya. It's given me a lovely warm feeling. I think today hopefully is going to be one of my better days.
Thinking of you.

Love and hugs

Jan x

Hi Sonya, sure looks like a black dog to me, you are so lucky to have such a clear sign. I would love to have something nice like that happen to me. My 9 yr old grand daughter Natalie sees dark shadowy apparitions of people, she has seen them for years and it doesn't bother her at all because she says they mean her no harm. She has never mentioned seeing animals though, only people, but if people can be seen after death, so can animals. One day she covered up the photo of my darling Ulriich that I had on the fridge and just looked at me but said nothing. I went to uncover it but couldn't, I just froze and stared back at her and left it and I didn't know why. It made me feel very uneasy and paranoid about checking where he was every 5 mins and justifiably so because about 2 weeks later my Ulriich was kllled. He died on Natalie's birthday and when I told her, she said " I'm sorry nanna, I knew something bad was going to happen to him, but I didn't know what, I just knew it was something bad" She hasn't said anything since then, so I would say that in this case, no news is good news.

Hi Jan, you are lucky too, I have never seen anything of either humans or animals that I have loved and lost and it's just not fair. It must be so comforting to see them. I recently read a story of an old man who went to live with his son and daughter in law because he could no longer manage on his own. Well, they had a cat and the old man and the cat became great mates and were inseparable. Some years later they found the cat had died in it's sleep during the night and naturally the old man was upset and he said "what am I going to do without my old mate? Two years later the old man also died and one night the daughter in law woke up to see the old man standing there smiling at the foot of her bed with the cat in his arms. They had found each other again. This story made me cry and I wish Ulriich would come back to me somehow like this.

Thanks so much for sharing your stories...I do believe in signs. The day after Brutus left, we were at our weekend house (like I said we only had it a month so Brutus never really got a chance to call it home) and my husband called me out to the yard...there was an eagle circling the house...I smiled alittle thinking maybe it was Brutus or maybe Brutus sent the eagle to check on us. Silly maybe, but comforting.

Doug brought in more pics this morning from the camera, in a weeks time there were 172 more pics...I frantically clicked through them, no Brutus...just lots of deer, raccoons and opposums.

I pray that you all see signs and see your babies. Maybe not in thier original form, but they will be there if you look.

Hugs to you all,
Brutus' Mom

Well I was doing good last night and this morning I woke with a positive attitude...that soon crashed around 2pm and now I'm looking at this picture thinking...maybe it's just a deer's but and the flash wasn't real bright so it looks black...I don't know. sad.gif

Hi "mom" isn't it strange how you never saw any more of the animal though? Wouldn't you, like you said previously, see the animal walk past the camera? The angle of the hind quarters is placed as though it has walked from one corner to the other across the screen. Leave it to Dottie, with her skills she will more than likely figure it out. I want it to be Brutus too. I am going to show my husband without mentioning anything of what it might be and see what he thinks it is.

Hi Sonya, Cool pix! Frankly, I've never seen a black deer or a tall racoon, soooo.....Let me put it you this way...How does it make you feel thinking this is Brutus??? Pretty good, right?? So Brutus IT IS!!..Like my story, a real coincidence that cat showed up that day, maybe, but I wanted it to be my msg from Arthur and I will always believe it was...Keep your heart and mind open and I bet you get plenty of signs from him...Hugs.. Thanks Madi, Ann, and Jan. I want to believe it's him but my rational side yesterday said, "it's not possible, you are just hoping" It does make me feel good that maybe it could of been him...I think it does anyway. My emotions are so screwed up anymore. I had a terrible night last night and I was doing so good. Guess that happens, anyhow today the sun is shining and I am going to try to have a good day. I hope you all do too.

Hugs,
Brutus' Mom

Sonya, your story and the picture gave me chills. I've read all the replies on this post so I know you've wavered back and forth on who/what you think it is in the picture. I've wrestled alot with the thought of animal spirits and such since Frasier died. I still don't have any answers although I do know the Bible says they have spirits. Whether or not a spirit can be caught on film, I don't know. But even if it wasn't actually Brutus in the picture, it could still be about him. Maybe God sent that animal to appear in the camera as a way to comfort you. Maybe the animal is real and is not Brutus but it is no less a sign to you. I don't know, but your first instinct, it seems, was to be comforted by the picture so I think that is the way you should go.
Regarding my own strange experiences, I have a couple if you're interested in reading them. First, for years I've been comforted by the Bible verse that says not even a sparrow falls without His knowing. In the months before Frasier's death, I became a little obsessed with the sparrow as I needed to believe that Frasier was a concern for God even though he was an animal. A couple of weeks before he died, a bird hit our front door glass and fell to the ground as Frasier and I were looking out that window. We watched the bird struggle and I talked to Frasier about it and told him God was watching. When my husband went out to move the bird to a safer place, he told me it was a sparrow. I was shocked. I was also shocked that the bird survived and flew away. Okay, so fast forward to the morning after Frasier died. I prayed the night after he died that God would comfort me in my decision to put him to sleep. The next morning there was a bird stuck in our garage and no matter how much we tried to get him to fly out the garage door, he wouldn't. We worked hard for several minutes to help him and finally he flew out and away. My husband looked at me and said it was a sparrow. He was free because we helped him. I began to cry because I knew God sent that sparrow (both times). I knew He was saying that because we cared and worked so hard, Frasier was now free.
The second story is just that when Frasier would walk past Buck (our yellow lab) when he was lying down, Buck wouldn't move to acknowledge him - except to wag his tail. Each night Frasier would lay in bed with me until the lights were turned out and then get up and get a bite to eat. A few minutes later, he would return and walk across the bed past Buck and get back in his spot for the night. A couple of nights after he died, I was awake (of course, couldn't sleep) and everything was still and quiet. Buck was laying on the bed with us and I don't know if he was asleep or awake but he started wagging his tail. He didn't move otherwise. It was just as he used to do when Frasier would walk by! He's never done that before for no reason and has never wagged his tail in his sleep that I know of. He has done it one or two more times since Frasier died - always during the night. I don't know. Maybe it's Frasier, maybe it's not but what does it hurt for me to believe that it is him? So, I think you should believe it's Brutus too. Wasn't his love for you strong enough to transcend?

Well Donna, I think we do get signs but some of us miss them, I wish God was a bit more obvious really, it would certainly give us more comfort if He was. Animals seem to pick up on spirits before we do, I have seen cats arch their backs and hiss at things that aren't there and not want to go past what appears to be an empty space. I have also seen them staring at things, really looking at something that I can't see. Maybe I have had signs and missed them, I've been too distressed or angry to see them or looking too hard perhaps. If you get anything that you think is a sign, hang on to it, because it probably is one.

Yes Donna, Madi is right . Animals (like children ) certainly do have the ability to see and sense what we, I think have closed our minds to for many reasons. As we get older we question everything more and maybe don't accept what we can't understand.
When we lost our black lab, Sooty, 18 years ago, we noticed a beautiful young blackbird in our garden who would peer at us through our window and hop along the wall all day. He was always there. He was black and shiny like our darling sooty and he looked at us in the same way, head on one side. To us it was definitely a sign from Sooty we named the blackbird 'Soot' in his memory. Well that blackbird is long gone but there have been others and we always say, look here's sooty. Our blackbirds have brought us so much comfort.
When Tasha left us almost 4 years ago as I walked in the garden I noticed a beautiful white fluffy feather on the lawn. I'd always called my sammies my ' Angel ' dogs, and to me this was a sign from Tasha. The same thing happened this September when Noushka joined Tasha at the rainbow bridge. In the garden I found two beautiful white fluffy feathers. Some will say, they're just feathers, but to me it was a sign again. I have the feathers in a safe place . I will always keep them safe.
Whatever sign we have from our darlings , take comfort in it.
Your photo is a wonderful sign.
Thinking of you and your darling Brutus

Love and hugs
