My daughter is in school today and today would have been a "Mama and Magic" day. IT's beautiful out and it has just made me so sad. I am so angry with the babysitter, she did not help look for her, lied about when she let out, and let us look in sheds for two days before finally admitting she left her out all night. She seems more concerned we will bad mouth her in the neighborhood, yet acts liek everything is back to normal........

Today is just such a lonely day.........sitting here by myself. I can't wait until we leave on our trip---I think a change of scenery is the only way to completely get my mind off things. We made it out several playdates recently, and I've been fine of those days....but today was just a huge step back.

why does society make you feel like you should forget about a pet in two days?? I feel like a failure for feeling this way.......

I can't believe this. A few years ago I used this site to help with my grief over Misty, my cat who died when I was 7 months pregnant at age 18.

When my daughter was 4 months old, a cat looking just like Misty showed up and had been dumped by someone who sold a house. We kept her and as the years went on, she was "helping" me raise my daughter.

Last week we went out of town for 2 days, wit ha reliable babysitter coming by twice a day. Although she was not supposed to let Magic out at night, she did. She wasn't here when we returned and after 2 days of flyers, calling, people searching sheds, we found out that a black cat had been found dead across the street. The babysitter finally fessed up that she let her out all night and we determined it was Magic.

I am still in shock...I was expecting her to live another 10 years.

Please everyone help........myanxiety and shock is unbelieveable, and I realize from the last time that it's pointless to talk to non "pet people."

Thanks for listening......Radgirl

I miss my little guy this time of year. Last week was the th anniversary. My hubby hung his Christmas stocking next to his pictures frames downstairs. We just put up our Christmas decorations, and I remember how Misty used to lie under the Christmas tree. We have dozens of pictures of that!

December was such a hard time the year we lost him and for 2 years after. I cried every Thanksgiving. For those of you that are at that stage, I do offer a lot of hope. Last year and this year are more remembering the fun times.........I'd sing Christmas carols with his name in the song. One year he got a catnip mat in his stocking that is still on the fireplace.......I remember him pawing at the stocking smelling the catnip.

I also remember how every January he would mope around the house because we put the tree away! Little stinker!!

Magic, our new cat, has been Heaven sent. I like to think Misty sent him to us......6 months after he died Magic showed up in our suburban backyard, in a neigborhood where there really are not any strays. After investivating and interviewing neighbors, tehy begged us to take Magic in. Someone that sold a home had a relative dump her there when they moved out, and Magic had been hitting everyone up for a home. Lucky us!!!!! She is so sweet and we know Misty sent her to us so my daughter would have a cat to grow up with.

About an hour ago marked the 4 year anniversary of my beloved Misty's death. He was truly one of the only things in the world that ever really cared about me. I have a beautiful daughter now and a new cat Magic, who was thrilled to see us after a crappy visit with relatives..........

Thanks everyone for listening on this anniversary day!

Hi all,
It's been ages since I've had the time to post....mydaughter and Magic keep me hopping! Magic has become more and more dear to us, as I don't think I would be as far along in the process as I am.

Thanksgiving Day marked the 2 year anniversary of Misty's death. We weren' out of town this year and we were totally alone, so that componded the situation. From Thanksgiving until April is the roughest time of year for me, as I remember the pain of no condolences and insensitive comments. It was hard to remember him Thanksgiving running around in the leaves....

I could use a few words of encouragement right now if anyone has time. Msot of the year I have moved on, but this time of year seems to drag on forever.

Thanks everyone and Happy New Year!
