thank you moon beam, it's eerie that you mentioned how we should consider getting a 2nd opinion. I literally just got off the phone with the Texas A&M vet clinic about doing exactly that. I would consider TAMU's animal clinical services to be the best in the region. They re-assured us that it's perfectly normal for people to get 2nd opinions (just as humans do) and we should not feel as if we don't trust what Quincy's current neurologist is doing for Quincy. I emailed Kristy telling her we can discuss tonight, but perhaps we see how Quincy is on Monday and then look to schedule an appt with TAMU. I don't want to leave anything on the table with our little Quincy.

thank you again for your kind words, they help me during this tough time.

Hi, Aaron, thank you so much for sharing with us how your precious Quincy and you are doing. I am so glad you feel comfortable about seeking a second opinion, and that the Texas A&M clinic has offered you reassurance about doing it. They are absolutely right when they said: " it's perfectly normal for people to get 2nd opinions (just as humans do) and we should not feel as if we don't trust what Quincy's current neurologist is doing for Quincy." - - The vets at Texas A&M can work in conjunction with his primary neurologist - - this is really very common now in today's veterinary medicine because many of the veterinary medicine fields of practice have become "specialized" just like human medicine. If you and Kristy do decide to take your precious Quincy to Texas A&M, please let us know how things go.

I hope today is treating your precious Quincy, you and Kristy, and all your family kindly, Aaron, and that each of you will have a very peaceful weekend. Please know your precious Quincy, and you and Kristy, are in my thoughts and prayers, and that I look forward to knowing how your precious boy and you are doing.

Peace and blessings,

So we talked to our primary vet last night and he contacted Quincy's neurologist and they agreed to reduce the K Br dosage starting tonight. We will also reduce the cyclosporine dosage as we think the amount he is taking is also having some side effects. So we will see how Quincy responds over the next 3-5 days (I assume that is how long it would take to see SOME changes in the med dosages).

It was a sobering call, as he said flat out that if these dosage changes don't have an impact, or at least enough of an impact, then he does not think there is much more we can do for Quincy as far as trying different treatments (as such treatments, mainly chemo-style treatments, are much more powerful than what he is currently on). He said he does not think Quincy's body can take more powerful treatments, which I am not sure I agree with. But that is something we can address down the road if we get to that point. The other concern is his neurological state. Assuming he responds positively from the dosage adjustments but his mental state is still "foggy", then I am not sure what we will do. I suppose I can't worry about that until we are actually faced with that decision.

It's all incredibly nerve racking and stressful to say the least. We just want him to get better, we'd give anything to help him get better.

Hi, Aaron, thank you for sharing with us how your precious Quincy and you are doing. It sounds like you have a plan of action to try to help your precious boy feel better. As you know each medication has its benefits as well as its side effects, and the more medication involved the more side effects the physical body has to try to deal with - - sometimes successfully, and sometimes not. I hope and pray that adjusting your precious Quincy's meds will help him. Please let us know how things go.
