Found this post from a thankful family in Creedmoor, NC and wanted to share. There are kind people out there but we do not always hear about them
Thanks to all who tried to help find Chatham- our sweet little schnoodle. As we feared when our lab mix, who would never leave her - came home alone, crying and not wanting to move for days - our sweet Chatham had been hit by a car near the Ledge Rock boat ramp. We had drove all over including this area and posted signs, sick with guilt that she was able to leave our property, yet we never found her nor saw her body - anywhere. A week later a man who lives on the same road, near the boat ramp, came to my house. This kind soul told me how he was a dog lover and has 2 of his own. This total stranger, had found my dog, in the brush, and instead of calling the sheriff or animal control or no one - as most do- he checked her tag, knew that she had been loved, then did what he would want anyone to do for his dogs. He cleaned my dog up (for lack of a better term) gently and then drove her home so that so that we could know what had happened to her and bury her. I CAN NOT believe that someone would do this for a stranger - what an honor. So many people say they love dogs - how many love them so much that they care for a stranger's dog - even after it has passed? I know that I will never be the same. I am deeply touched and I hope, now you are too. |
