Lightning-Strike Pet Loss Support Forum _ Lost or Missing Pet Support _ Lindy The Cat Is Missing-please Pray For Her!

Posted by: LisaP Nov 1 2010, 06:24 PM

Our beloved cat Lindy has been missing for three weeks. I can't believe it has been that long. We are having a terrible time finding her, despite numerous sightings in our neighborhood. I have read so many sites with ideas on how to find her but no luck. I am hoping that someone here has a new idea.

Lindy's story: We adopted her from the shelter a year ago. She is love bug like no cat I have ever seen. She was at the shelter for 8 months before we adopted her. She came into the shelter a pregnant stray. The shelter thought that she had been out for quite a while when she was brought in. Since we have had her she would go outside and roll in the sun on our deck but never wander far. She is soooo attached to me and when she disappeared I was gone on a 10 day trip but my husband and kids were at home with her. It haunts me to think that she is somehow looking for me.

We have gotten over a dozen calls from people in our neighborhood who think that they have seen her but she is never there when we race over.

What I have done to find her:

I filed a missing report with area vets and shelters. I have also been going to the shelter twice a week to look for myself. (she is microchipped, so that should help)

We have posters up in our subdivision and the three that surround us. I had these laminated so they are wearing well.

We emailed everyone in our subdivision a picture of her.

We put out food every night (not eaten)

We have set a humane trap in the area where she has most been sighted. I have caught raccoons and possums but no Lindy. Plus, (this is strange) one night the blanket in the cage had fur on it but the trap was still open. The fur would be consistent with her but could also be the same color as a possum (do they have fluffy fur like a long hair kitty?????).

I don't know if I should follow the ideas for an inside cat or an outside cat since she has been both in her lifetime.

If nothing else, I would love some prayers to be sent her way so she knows that we are frantically looking for her and want her back more than anything.

Thank you so much for the support. Maybe it is just wishful thinking but I really believe that we will find her and she will come home soon. My husband thinks I am crazy and need to accept that she is gone but in my heart I still feel like she is close by and will show up. Maybe I'm just dreaming, I don't know.

Lindy has been sighted! If everyone could please please please pray that she go into the trap or come home. I would oh, so much appreciate it! The neighbor that found her in her yard was afraid to pick her up so she called me but she wasn't there when I got there 5 minutes later. I begged her to pick her up if she can next time but I don't know if she will.

Please please please send kitty come home thoughts to my Lindy!

Hi, Lisa, good news is that your precious Lindy is still close by. If only there was a way to put a GPS locator on our beloved companions - - that would certainly help!!!! Hmmm -- I wonder if there is a chip implant for that for companion animals.

Lisa, I am sending you and your Lindy extra extra extra thoughts and prayers that Lindy will be reunited with you quickly and safely. I know she will be ever so glad to be back home with you.

Please do let us know how things are going, Lisa.

Peace and blessings,

Update: This morning at 6:15 a jogger called me (thank goodness I had my posters laminated so they still look good) and said that she was pretty sure that she spotted Lindy but couldn't be sure because it was dark. We ran down there (less than 2 blocks from my house) and couldn't find her. Then at 7:00am a dog walker called me and said that she was certain that she saw Lindy in the same spot. We ran back and looked some more and STILL couldn't find her. I can't figure it out.

I am out of ideas. Any thoughts on how for a month there has been a sighting every other day at least but we STILL haven't brought that cat home?

Any ideas on how to get her home. There are two nasty dogs between where she is and our house (in a fenced yard). My guess is that she won't go past them to get home but I don't know.

Ideas, thoughts, I would appreciate any brainstorming that you all can come up with!

Hi, LisaP.

I sure hope that Lindy comes home soon. I can't begin to imagine how you feel, because I know how I feel when my indoor rescue I aptly named "Dasher" simply darts for the door.

My uncle is a trapper and he taught me a trick for luring a cat into a humane trap. He told me to coat a 2x4 piece of wood with fish oil and lay it smack up against the trap. The smell carries through the air and guides them to it.

One time someone abandoned a cat near the pet store that I work at. It is next to a highway and I was worried it would get hit by a car. I tried and tried to trap it every day for a week. Once my uncle told me his trick, I caught it in an hour and a half!!!

I will say a prayer for Lindy. What a pretty girl.

Hi, Lisa - - what a wonderful idea Walk Alone has given. I sure do hope and pray that, if you can give it try, that it will work as well for you and your precious Lindy. Boy, this sure does add new meaning to the saying, "So close yet so far away."

Am sending many prayers for Lindy's safe and speedy return to your loving arms.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam
