mad.gif We live in a small cul de sac, we keep ourselves to ourselves, but some of our neighbours are just nosey! When we had Foxy, either myself or my DH would walk her twice daily, so I suppose we were a familiar sight to our curtain twitching neighbours.

Anyway, DH bumped in to our next door neighbour yesterday, who remarked that he hadn't seen Foxy for a while. So DH told him the sad news, and then my neighbour said,

"oh, a few of us thought you'd had her rehomed because of your children." What? A few of us!!! I'm first of all angry that they'd been speaking behind our backs, and secondly they thought we'd just had her rehomed just like that. Our children are very young, one is two and the other is just 6 months, but Foxy was the most gentle dog you'd ever seen. He then said,

"she didn't look ill". She was on crate rest for the last 5 weeks of her life, does he not believe us?

Some people just don't have a shred of sympathy in their bodies. Sorry I just needed to get that off my chest, I know you'll all understand how much his comments have got to me.

Irene.

Dear Irene
You are right , 'some people' they're so insensitive and say the most stupid things. We can see why we prefer our fur babies to so many of the 'human' species. I do feel so sorry for these humans who have never known the love and companionship of a fur child, they sure have missed out on so much, but there again if they can behave like that and say such stupid things, they don't deserve to set foot any where near them. Stupid, stupid people.
Which part of Uk are you by the way. I am a Yorkshire girl but have lived most of my life in the South East, where I'm now based.
Thinking of you and your darling Angel Foxy and your family.

Love
Jan xx

People can say the dumbest things! I honestly think a lot of people don't think before they speak. This is just one reason that I prefer the company of my dogs and cat to most people.

Please don't let this guy's ignorance bring you down. He was being unthoughtful when he said those words and probably doesn't even realize that he said anything wrong.

Thanks Jan and Rhapsedy, you're both right it's people like him who are missing out, and we are the ones who are blessed.

Jan, I'm a northern girl too, we're just (about 5 miles) outside Liverpool.

Hi, Irene, boy do I know what you're talking about!! I am so sorry that you have had to be subjected to that ignorant rubbish. When I am home I just want to be home with my furbabies - - I don't want to be bothered with the "local gossip chain" I pretty much stay to myself as well. The time that I have with my furkids is precious to me. There are so many ignorant people who believe that "animals" are expendable for whatever reason, and truly are not worth knowing - - in my opinion - - and it sounds to me like your neighbors definitely have earned the "ignoramus" award. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, Irene.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam

Oooh it really upsets me to here that! I swear some people just don't have hearts. I've always thought that people like that have never been blessed with the love of an animal like we have. Hopefully they'll learn from their mistake and keep thier mouth shut next time. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Hugs

The insensitive LOUT!! What a shame that thoughtless words from someone who is obviously a NON-animal person had to occur and upset you so much. I wish that people who don't understand about what the loss of pets means to us who are animal FREAKS would just keep their mouths shut, rather than trying to say anything at all.

My pet peeve is "Oh, yes, animals become just like your children..." Yeah, I guess that's true in some ways, but in my case, Ladywolf is my entire life, my only companion, my soulmate, my only relative--I HAVE no children, nor sisters or brothers or parents or anything--she is not "like" my children--she is my WOLF!!! I know that they mean well, but it just rankles every time I hear it because it is such a cliche. But I usually thank them and go on about my way, fuming...

Try not to let it upset you too much. Obviously, there are the animal-sensitives, like all of us, and the animal-INsensitives, like your neighbor--and ne'er the twain shall meet in the middle!

Big Hugs--Margi and the Wolf

Irene,

I am so sorry you have to experience the cruel natures of some people when it comes to our furkids. They look at pets as objects to be used and then discarded and they can't understand people like us who love our guys as much as they love their children. They wouldn't dream of giving their kids away (well, some might!) but they look at animals like they do their cars. People can be such idiots sometimes.

They aren't evil or anything, just ignorant, and nosey busybodies. Mostly people like that are lying. They were probably just gossiping with one neighbor who probably was thinking, I wish this person would just shut up. I have someone like that in my neighborhood too. Just ignore them. Make sure you give everyone in the neighborhood the "real" scoop, and ignore just that person. That'll drive them crazy. They'll bug you like crazy. Just give them some generic answer that tells them nothng. This person is to be pitied as they don't have a life.

Hi Irene, to some people re-homing comes second nature to them. It is a nicer and more acceptable way of saying they are dumping their pet. Non animal lovers just don't understand that some of us have pets for life. I feel sorry for you living in such a non-animal loving neighbourhood. Your Foxy looked beautiful!!
