I cannot fathom what happened this morning. This is Stubby---whom I just found--gone!!!😪😢😰 He was fine at 3am when I gave him some treats--but let me go back to last week. He wasn't acting right--not eating or drinking. I tried o set up an appointment for him and had problems with that. Then he started to get better--eating and drinking---decided I would call the vet again for a check up. He 'd been acting his old self again---so I thought I had time to call the vet. He came here, with us, from Florida. Rescued him around 2006. I think he was about 2 or 3 years old, at the time. I went into the kitchen, about 6am and saw him lying on the rug, under the kitchen table. I called him, he didn't move. I touched him and realized what had happened. But, I can't say why-- Last November, we lost Adam. He was 17 1\2. I felt bad too, but he was getting frail--he was blind and did a lot of walking. I took him to the vets, just to get an idea of what was going on. it was mainly age related problems. I knew he'd be gone one day--so it came as no surprise and I was able to tolerate that better than I am handling this. Stubby is already being missed. My husband was close to him He's here and I am taking him for cremation to come back with us. -------------------- Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry away with them so many years of our own lives..." Hi, Mistletoe, please permit me to offer you my sincerest sympathies in the physical loss of your beloved Stubby. Losing a companion is never easy regardless of the circumstances or how long we are blessed with the privilege of their company. Losing a companion unexpectedly can intensify the grief.
As you are so too well familiar, Mistletoe, this grief journey is one of the most painful experiences you will know on this side of eternity. It is a journey that is filled with many different emotions that can overwhelm us all at one time which is why it is frequently referred to as a horror roller coaster ride. From what you share with us there is no doubt that you did everything in your human and humane power to give your beloved Stubby a happy and healthy earthly journey. Although there is no way we can ever adequately "prepare" ourselves for the moment in time when our companions are no longer physically with us, our grief journey is particularly difficult when their transition journey from this earthly realm is sudden or for no obvious reason. The only comfort we have in our grief journey is knowing that our beloved companion's sweet Living Spirit is always with us in our hearts and memories - - they are always and forever a heartbeat close to us. I know so very well from first hand experience that when our hearts are entrenched in deep sorrow there are no adequate words in any language that can soothe the searing pain of sorrow. Still I hope the words I share with you will offer you some measure of comfort, support, encouragement, and hope as you travel your grief adjustment journey. Thank you so much for honoring us in sharing your beloved Stubby, and Adam, with us, and these wonderful pictures of your beloved companions. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, Mistletoe, and please let us know how you're doing. Peace and blessings, moon_beam -------------------- In heaven's perfect garden there is no grief or pain, and all of God's creation join the angels' sweet refrain.
The most blessed way I have of knowing God's comforting love and grace is to look into the eyes and heart of God's creatures' sweet angelic face. |

Mistletoe,
I'm very sorry to hear of the physical loss of your precious Stubby! Cats are so good at hiding that something might be wrong. And he was eating and drinking okay again. What a mystery. He was lucky to have shared his earthly life with you and your husband. He's still with you---just not in his physical form. And you'll be reunited fully with him and Adam when eventually it is your time to pass. Try not to feel guilty about anything. You gave him good care!! Let us know how you are doing.
