I was hoping I would not be back here on these boards so soon after Diamond's passing, but here I am...

Soxie began breathing a little erratic, so we took him to the emergency vet. Immediately, they put him on oxygen and diagnosed him with heart failure. They also found fluid in his lungs. As they ran more tests, they found he also has hyperthyroidism.

The doctor was able to drain the fluid and put him on meds to slow down the heart failure, but we have been told it is just a matter of time until the heart gives out.

The doctor wants to release him tonight so that he can go home and be in more comfortable surroundings.

Today is his 14th birthday, so it will be good to have him home. However, we are also devastated to know that this may be his last birthday.

Hi, Teresa, please permit me to offer you my sincerest and deepest sympathies in the physical loss of your beloved Soxie. I know the seering pain of loss that is in your heart, and I want you to know that I share your sorrow. I hope and pray that you know the love bond you and your beloved Soxie share is eternal - - and that he is now restored to his former youthfulness in the company of the angels eternally bound to your heart and memories. His sweet Living Spirit is forever with you, Teresa, - - he is always a heartbeat close to you.

Even though we are separated by geographical distances, please know each of us are here for you through the blessing of this wonderful forum to offer you both our individual and collective support, encouragement, and comfort as you travel your grief journey. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, Teresa, and that I look forward to knowing how you're doing.

Peace and blessings,
moon_beam

In heaven's perfect garden there is no grief or pain, and all of God's creation join the angels' sweet refrain.

The most blessed way I have of knowing God's comforting love and grace is to look into the eyes and heart of God's creatures' sweet angelic face.
